That is why a group of people with radical thinking are organized, and these terrorist movements are formed, such as Sendero Luminoso and MRTA. Throughout that period where the country was harmed the most economically and socially, these groups were strengthened because they had more and more people with the same thinking, and their negative impact on the country was much greater. However now we will focus on the group which caused more damage to the country, economic losses and human lives: Shining Path.
To begin, it should be recalc that the leader of this terrorist group was Abimael Guzman. This terrorist group was publicly born on May 17, 1980, in the Cuschi town of Ayacucho. Where ocurred the burning of amphoras and presidential electoral rolls of that time. Ayacucho was the department where Sendero Luminoso attacked more. The Truth Commission pointed out that 50% of the murders caused by the Shining Path occurred in that region, Ayacucho. Among the main terrorist attacks of Sendero Luminos are: The massacre of 79 villagers in the town of Lucanamarca, in Ayacucho, in April 1983; the attack on the headquarters of "Channel 2" in June 1992; the explosion of two car bombs in Tárata, Miraflores, in July of 1992; among other facts more.
On September 12, 1992, the special intelligence group (GEIN) captured Abimael Guzman and was sentenced to life imprisonment by a military court.
