I think that my plate had a lot more potential but I played it too safe. I think I could've done better with a different theme. The most challenging part of the process was figuring out what glaze should go where. I liked the freedom of design we had, but did not like the group idea.

I want them to see how the ramen river resembles a sense of warmth among the cold trees surrounding it. It shows an interesting concept that can bring a bunch of ideas to your mind, such as, well, eating a river, which one wouldnt normally do. I feel that the world is a pretty dark place but food brightens it up for sure. To make contrast, i used the dark, dreary background along with the bright, colorful river. My reference was my usage of small canvases as i had done before.

I chose the sky.

2.  My plan for the project unfolded like this: would draw the paintbrushes and decide on the background. Id color in the background, then color the brushes based off the background colors.

3.  I had never noticed before that the white highlights are so blocky, and look real icky when youre drawing them, but when you look from far away its ten times more realistic.

4.  What I would do differently next time is take a picture of something more reflective and interesting.

5.  I think my piece turned out quite crappy cause i HATE colored pencils, i can never get the effect i want, and its awful. But i did my best so..it happened. Woo

My piece was difficult because of the small details I had to do. Shading and highlighting so small was hard, and making the symbols neat was even harder.

I made it all black, as emo as it sounds-reflecting my personality, also adding gold and bright color. Also personality. Sorta.

I do not think it's successful. It didn't turn out the way I wanted it to, and it didn't have enough detail.

2.     How does your work reflect the theme of the project, "Making/Leaving My Mark".  Explain in detail with examples from your work.
I took it literally and painted my face really big on a board. I am my own mark I suppose.


3.     What was most challenging for you with this project and how did you deal with it?
I struggled with painting a face, it was hard to make skin color as well as getting all the highlights and shadows in without going overboard.


4.     What makes your artwork engaging? Be specific in your answer.
There are many things to look at in it, and maybe a viewer wouldnt be able to recognize me at first and try to think about who it is.


5.     What were some decisions that you had to make during this process?  How did it guide your work?
I had to skimp out on details because of the time limit. It turned out looking very flat.

6.  What are your reflections on working large scale?
It was absolutely terrible but it was nice to be able to get smaller details in. I didnt like having to mix so much paint.

My artwork is a sketchy looking rabbit man. He represents a sort of more natural but weird demon.
2. How do you want viewers to respond to your work- what do you want them to think and feel? 
I want the viewer to relate to Henry because he looks sort of human. I want his looks to make them feel uneasy, and hope that they would never see him in real life.
3. How did you focus on the figure-ground relationship?  Be specific siting examples from your work
I used a light/dark contrast. I left a lot of space around his ears, sort of making it look like one of those spacious mugshots.
4.  What is something you did to push or challenge yourself with this assignment (risks)?
I wanted to achieve the messy look. I'm usually a perfectionist, but I wasn't this time around, at least, I tried. I challenged myself to let loose a little bit.
5.  How do you think your project turned out?  Tell me specifically why you think that.
I think its pretty nice, i was able to use scribbles to make shadows and an illusion of color. 
6.  What is something that you could do to make your piece better than it is?

My concentration topic is Demons. With this piece I express a more figurative demon, inner ones.

The darkness of it and the contorted faces are what i used to express myself.
3. How did you manipulate your artwork in order to make it engaging for the viewer?  Be specific in your answer.
I made the faces more dramatically shaped to convey a sense of pain and anguish.
4.  How do you think your project turned out?  Tell me specifically why you think that.
I think it turned out alright, i made everything by hand and my arm almost fell off making it. I like the depth of it physically and mentally.
5. How does your artwork show your growth as an artist?  Be specific in your answer.
Yes, i put more work into it, especially with the more 3D aspects of it. I used more texture to make up for the lack of color i used.
