         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think we need to hold them more accountable through extracurriculars. Limiting participation might get their attention. Could we develop a student mentoring program? Perhaps we could offer some kind of a mentoring credit, where we could match up a strong junior/senior to be a mentor with a struggling student. The mentor could get credit, and help another student along the way.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Is there any evidence of 4-day school weeks increasing attendance? I know it was a "rogue" suggestion, but I am curious to see if other schools have seen attendance improve with shorter weeks...many of our weeks at WCHS are already 4 days long due to iservices, holidays, events, etc.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I agree, I don't know how, but I feel like we need more incentives in each individual classroom, and school wide.&nbsp; But support in that.&nbsp; Maybe have a jam session of ideas and just "BLAST' them!&nbsp; Give them an inspiration to do good, so they know what it is again, and support that.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>What about posting the overall attendance percentage each day and setting a school-wide attendance goal. EX: 96% attendance for all of 4th quarter = school wide super fun event of some sort (admittedly, I don't know what the carrot should be).&nbsp;<br><br>Each day the attendance % would be read in announcements and posted outside the high school office.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>Attendance Contracts</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I know some schools require a meeting with parents after a certain number of absences. For instance, after 5 absences the parents must come in for a face to face meeting. The parents and the student have to sign a contract stating their commitment to making sure their child attends school. I've been told that these contracts are also useful in prosecuting truancies. </div>]]></description>
