Where I feel he could use a bit of help is in his sharing. He struggled with sharing the crayons when another little girl came over to his table to draw.

·      Using a sharing bear and handing the toy off to friends in a circle.

·      Going around the room and saying nice thing about your neighbor.

·      Always encourage friendliness and kindness in the classroom.

·      Have pictures of friends hugging, especially pictures they have drawn of their friends, hanging in the classroom.

Standard: SED5 - The child will develop relationships and social skills with peers.

SED5.3e Shows emerging respect for peers' personal space and belongings.

·      Count the Lego blocks and he builds with them.

·      Count the pegs on the Lego blocks and have him sort them into groups that match.

·      Have the numbers 1 - 10 more available around the classroom such as flash cards or magnets.

·      A white board with numbers at the top so they could copy.

Standard: CD-MA1 - The child will organize, represent, and build knowledge of number and quantity.

CD-MA1.3a Recites numbers up to 10 in sequence.

CD-MA1.3c Matches numerals to sets of objects with the same number, 0–5.

·      Ask open ended questions while he is involved in something he is passionate about. Preferably when he is in the middle of strategic play.

·      Have him tell a made-up story using puppets.

·      Bring in children to bounce ideas off of when thinking through and answering open ended questions.

·      A dramatic play area with lots of toys to help encourage creative thinking for storytelling.

Standard: CLL1 - The child will listen to conversations and demonstrate comprehension.

CLL1.3c Responds to more complex questions with appropriate answers.

Standard: CLL4 - The child will use increasingly complex spoken language. 

CLL4.3b Demonstrates use of expanded sentences and sentence structures. 

·      Have him copy his own name and the names of his relatives. In addition, have him start writing his own name on his school papers as practice every time.

·      Do an activity where he uses scissors to cut out different shapes and paste them on a different piece of paper to help him develop that skill.

·      Add more creative art utensils. Add more crayons, markers and color pencils. Add a painting easel if they can designate an area

·      If there were also magnetic blocks along with smaller Legos for him to grasp more precisely.

Standard: PDM6 - The child will demonstrate fine motor skills.

PDM6.3a Refines grasp to manipulate tools and objects.

PDM6.3b Uses hand-eye coordination to manipulate smaller objects with increasing control.
