I have a friend who studies at a different university than mine. This friend only has an account at bank A, and when he wants to use another bank, specifically bank B. He goes to bank B and tells the staff that he wants to create a new student bank account. After getting his ID information and some documents confirming that he is a student, the bank staff says that the school has automatically registered an account for you based on your student account at your school. This also means that the school has sold your information to many banks to create fake accounts for a certain period of time. Similar to spam/scam calls, businesses always call you to sell you real estate or stocks. Every business has your phone number and gmail and personal information. Your private information is always a commodity that is traded from one company to another. Is selling information normalized in today's society?
