She came to the United States from the Dominican Republic, alone with her father in the 90’s. Unable to finish high school, she worked everyday for her son and later her other children so they could live comfortably. Martha embodies my definition of the “American dream” because she is able to live comfortably and safely without the fear of anything happening to her or her family. She is proud of who she is and where she came from, she believes that opportunities are here and she’s glad her family got to be here, unlike many others back home.

In addition, too completing his very own goals which is too support his family financially and take care of their needs. Directly despite of the obstacles and abuse he faced when he was a child/teenager. Gerard Federici not only dug himself out of a situation many people would simply give up in but he managed to flourish/prosper from it too. He built, grew, and sold two companies to profitable companies from the ground up. Gerard Federici succeed through hard work and dedication and thats why I believe he is the an amazing candidate for symbolizing my personal envision of the American Dream.

He did it for our family and for me as he always told me. he did it so i can have a better life and succeed for the whole family. one struggle he had was trying to speak english, but after years of working with english speakers he caught a long. getting to know people and trusting people for him was the hardest.

This was just the beginning of his journey in America because he went through many jobs until he found one where he felt comfortable working. After all the years of working he was able to buy a house and know still works. He is the hardest working person I know, working on his off says to improve the house, he won't ever stop.
