1 Observation:
It's interesting how the students flourished in a social aspect with their learning.

1 Connection: It reminds me of how my philosophy teacher made us write for 5 minutes every day and at the end of the year, we could see how we improved. The ideology of being repeatedly exposed to something to get better is a strong one.

1 Surprise: I'm surprised they only did it with 2 students. I think this is a worthy study and should have been done with more, but I assume resources didn't allow for it.

! Question: Have there been any studies that show quantitatively the impact of social networks for ELL learners using things like Ning?

You were one of the authors! A surprise related to the actual study though is how comfortable the students felt in an online setting, though I suppose it is a lower risk environment which gives them more time to think about what to say.

My question is, would something like this work for students who have no english language skills at all, or do they need a base on which to stand?
