My 10th grader typically spends the whole day completing homework, many times just for APWH but will also have other homework to complete. Also need help making a better distinction between when the school day ends and home time begins because my student usually goes straight into homework. Please have teachers focus their virtual instructional time on instructing and not reviewing homework - reviewing homework could be done during small groups or during the new half-days on Wednesdays. My 10th grader is having to complete a lot of self-instruction for APWH which just adds more work to the already heavy workload. It just seems that there is more homework now. Please do not underestimate the overall positive benefits that we gain from this much-needed mid-week time for overall wellness, mental and physical health, especially during the virtual-learning type of environment. We already have counseling but maybe giving the students some training during advisory on how to deal with working in the virtual environment. Not all group members have access to reliable technology, some group members are non-responsive which makes it seem like one or two students needs to take responsibility for all of the work b/c they don't want their own grade to suffer due to non-participation of the other group members. If students with learning challenges are in a group, they need to have their support personnel work with them on their assigned tasks from the group project to help the whole group stay on track for meeting deadlines.
