The aim of this international, recently established German-Cuban research collaboration is to develop clinical and imaging biomarkers for the third most common autosomal-dominant ataxia type 2 (SCA2) at preclinical and clinical stages and to validate clinical and imaging biomarkers at the preclinical and clinical stages to better understand the disease progression, and which can be used in future clinical trials.

Art therapy is a relatively young discipline. Art therapy combines three transdisciplinary interpenetrating fields: Art, Medicine and Psychology. Significant is its focus on the resources of a sick person, which are stimulated, supported and promoted through a wealth of different aesthetic materials. The classical art - therapy medias are for exampie: clay, watercolor or pencils, as well as new media such as photography, videography or room installations. For many clients it seems to be easier to use a non-verbal and imagery based form of  self-expression and communication which provides a focus for discussion, analysis and reflection.

Art therapy is related to everyone’s inner creative energy and works primarily with the natural human resources and the potentials of each individual. 

The creating process mediates between the unconscious and concious parts oft the human beeing, showing and symbolising  past, present and future aspects of the person who creates.
