Our museum will reflect these key stories in semi permanent displays and will also have ongoing and changing temporary displays so that there are always new points of interest at the museum. The great Waikato river was central to the geological formation of the landscape and played an important role in transportation for all peoples. Prior to European settlement the Cambridge basin was the centrepoint of Māori journeys between the east and west of New Zealand and was the site of many Māori settlements. Following the land wars the birth of primary industry in Cambridge is an interesting story from the early soldier farmers to the multi million dollar horse breeding industry.
