^{Today’s class really opened my eyes to how powerful and tricky AI and digital tools can be in education, especially in language teaching. I used to see these tools mostly as shortcuts or helpers, but now I understand they can be so much more if used the right way. At the same time, I see how important it is to teach students not to rely on them blindly. They still need to think critically, especially when it comes to writing or doing research. I really look forward that our school can have its clear guidelines on AI use (they are currently working on it.) Without that structure, it’s easy for both teachers and students to cross lines they may not even realize are there. 😊💕✨️}

1. Judicious selection of AI and tools:

Most of the time, whenever we are introduced to novel technologies, we become overwhelmed by the options available.

I have to say, my brain has become fat, thanks to our discussion. I appreciate everything, especially those that are new to me. However, while the CALL evaluation framework operates on “learner fitness” or “teacher fitness”, we need to employ one tool after another, not simultaneously. I firmly believe, that less is more.

2. AI is here to stay.

AI is a friend. Just like our relationship with friends, we can only create a symbiotic relationship with it if we know how to cultivate a growth mindset. To shun technological advancement is a step backward. The most proactive decision is to adopt and adapt to be adept.

3. Everyone can teach, but not everyone can mentor.

I believe that AI literacy can be learned by anyone. But having someone to mentor you on how to critically and ethically use it is the key. This mentor may take the form of a professor, a colleague, a friend, or a stranger. You only need to have the right set of network that would amplify your skill set and technical know-how.
