Human Rights (All without discrimination of gender, age, race, language, religion, ethnicity, and nationality):

The right to work in safe environments

The right to education

The right to freedom from slavery and torture

Freedom of expression

Right to life

Right to Liberty

Etc.

I was unaware of the Human Rights, as I have only been apprised of the Canadian Charter rights, which are markedly distinct from the Human Rights. I was unaware of the rights to education on the Human Rights list, as many children worldwide do not receive education, decreasing the influence of these rights in certain parts of the world. Furthermore, I was also unaware of what the right to life meant, but after research, it signifies the right to live, and not to be killed, which is a huge problem around the world. While these listed rights are crucial to a safe and healthy lifestyle, many around the world are not aware of these, and their living style opposes these rules by the conditions and circumstances which are given.

Human Rights Video

While many would assume Human Rights are similar to treatments, or inaccessible to certain people, that would not be the case, as Human Rights are a universal rule written into every human’s system, neither being given nor taken away. Human Rights belong to everyone, no matter their differences.

Human Rights was created during the 1948 UN General Assembly, birthing the prominent Universal Declaration of Human Rights. During the aftermath of World War 2, the United Nations was formed to bring together the world, and collaborate as a whole planet, rather than opposing what was occurring during World War 2. As a result, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was established to enforce freedom and equality around the world.

While the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a highly valued set of rights for humans, many governments and cities abuse these rules and blindly ignore them. Personally, I have always wondered why is there no action for enforcing Human Rights, but after watching the video, I was educated on the United Nations being an organization that can not forcefully enforce these rules by implying punishments. Human rights is a declaration after all, not a law. There can only be words exchanged to force an outcome, but no direct force to help enforce the Declaration of Human Rights to be implemented to all humans, which is inevitable thinking about it.

UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission

In the picture, there is a man working as a shoe crafter, while the woman is making soap, who are both disabled. This picture represents the influence and difference that the UN has made, as the United Nations has created specialized programs to help individuals around the world gain safe jobs, helping them manage their families and lives.

In particular, the following image is a photograph taken regarding the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali, which was shut down in the middle of 2023. The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali was a peacekeeping mission which stabilized political and humanitarian conflicts in Mali, providing support for the people of Mali. The image is an example of the impact this mission created, giving disabled people jobs, and granting opportunities and chances for people to build on. This abides with Human Rights, and helps grow hope and desire for what seemed like would be impossible.

As you may know, the FIFA World Cup is the most largest and popular sporting event in the world, with billions tuning in to watch it. The most recent one was in 2022 in Qatar, which was great for Qatar’s tourism and economy, as it boosted them since they became popular and relevant from the World Cup, but that came with prices.

When they were chosen to become hosts of the 2022 World Cup, they had no infrastructure for the stadiums and venues, so obviously they would have to build them with their enormous wealth. They brought in around 30,000 foreign workers to build the stadium, giving many less fortunate people money and jobs, but that was the opposite of what happened. During the World Cup matches, news came out about the terrible working conditions of the Qatar stadiums, as there was immense heat, terrible living conditions lacking malnutrition and medical support, as well threatened and denied water and lunch breaks. Some workers came out and reported earning 80 cents per hour while living in terrible working conditions.

This is a huge example of the violation of Human Rights, as these 30,000 workers were given terrible working conditions, with terrible housing and nutrition services, putting a dent in Qatar’s reputation.

As you may know, there is a huge war happening in the Middle East, consisting of Israel and Palestine having a conflict with each other. While many may assume this to be any other war, it is not, as experts claim this war to be a case of genocide.

Citizens of Gaza are being killed by bomb strikes, and more causes, by Israel, for historical and political purposes. For the conflict between the governments, the citizens of both sides have to suffer, with Israel purposely bombing Gaza, and forming a genocide, which is highly against Human Rights. Written in the Human Rights, the right to life is being highly violated, causing a specific group of people to die. This has to be stopped immediately, as many have to suffer, in a world that could have had different peaceful outcomes. Overall, the Israel and Palestine conflict is creating a genocide, violating the Human Rights of many.

Summary

Personally, I feel strongly affectionate to Human Rights, and the security and rights every individual human should have. After taking a look around our globe, and understanding different circumstances, we need to make an effort to further enforce Human Rights. Although the UN is trying, they are not as impactful as possible. Governments around the world should enforce these rules, and help protect them to create world peace, so every human can be given the same opportunities as other humans on the other side of the world. This creates an innovative and safe future for the rest of the history of mankind. This global issue brings peace and equality, all if we help each other out, and respect the Human Rights rules for every human. Many active citizens have already seen this vision of a positive world, and they have switched to activism to spread their opinions, creating insight on this problem, and helping more people become aware, thus resulting in the global population recognizing and changing for the better of this world. What we should not do is ignore this issue, and be “blind,” and lazy to skim over such an issue as this. Finally, we as humans are the only species who suffer from a lack of Human rights, so we have to be the ones to enforce them to create equality and peace around the world.
