Just like it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a village to raise a band director. I work with so many amazing colleagues and feel their support every day. Shout out to Sain, Dycus, Reeder, Duncan and Boyles for giving advice and an ear to listen!! And thank you to all who give your support to the band kiddos!! :)

I had to back away from the person who was always negative. It seemed like every time I talked to her, she never asked about me. It was all "woe is me." She quit her job, but is not actively looking and complains about money. I send her job openings I think she'd be good at. I'm tired of doing more for her than she does for herself.

I rely on you guys for the uplifting. None of my circle teaches, so you are the ones who get it. I am grateful for all of you who find things to say that put a smile on my face.

This article is so true--the more you surround yourself with "drains" the more "drained" you will feel. I really have to hold myself accountable for my attitude. I am very easily influenced by my environment. My teammates and I have had discussions on how we can maintain a positive attitude and environment on our end of the hallway. That helps a ton. Also, listening to praise and worship music and doing my devotional helps to get me out of my funk if I am in one. I am sorry if I have brought any of you down with negative comments and attitudes. I try to choose joy each day, but the struggle is real some days! Love you all <3

I surround myself with folks who remind me to take care of myself. For example, Radebaugh is a positive influence in taking care of my health by encouraging me to exercising. Bailey Scronce gave me a good remedy for my laryngitis. I take time to do things for myself that I enjoy and fill up my bucket. I am grateful to be part of a community that cares for one another. And most of all I find joy in spending time with my new grandson.

Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Gilbert keep me together here in Room 106! They are wonderful co-workers and friends. My ship would definitely sink without them. They keep me positive, and keep me laughing! It is true that laughter is the best medicine and we do a lot of it! At home, my little guy keeps me going. He is the joy of my life!

What you fill your mind and body with is what you use. A positive mindset leads to positive actions and a negative mindset will lead to negative actions.

It seems common sense but our students truly don't understand this or believe in it. This is why I believe in not teaching a 100% standards, but a 65/35 split. Standards and how to be a good human

This article hits home! WLMS is a village of caring, loving, and professional folks who are always looking out for each other. In my 23 years here, I've never wanted to work anywhere else. The building is full of positive role models, not only for our kiddos but also for us adults. My "home" on the 8th grade hall is wonderful but having experienced two grade levels, I can truly say this is a special place to work...let us "keep on keeping on!"
