This is Gena Turgel, the woman who survived a gas chamber. When she was in a concentration camp, the nazis brought her and a group of people to a gas chamber. They told them it was for showers, and they believed it. But when Gena came out, everyone looked at her with shock. They all told her she was in a gas chamber, and everyone else died. "I completely lost my voice," she said. "I just never realized I was in the gas chamber until you just told me.''

This is how everyone thinks she survived the gas chamber. After she came out, everyone came up to her, asking how and what she did to survive the gas chamber. She said,'' I wear a lot of perfume. The stench of the camp always stayed with me, so I tried to block it out.'' Everyone was shocked at how perfumed saved her life from deadly gas. We don't know if anyone tried this method after her, but websites state people did try it but weren't successful.

Gena Trugel and one of the roughest lives you could think of. But she always tried to look at the bright side, being very optimistic. She was joyful when she met an army man in Auswitch. They eventually got married. Even though she lost all of her family and wanted to give up a lot of times, she never did, and she ended up meeting the love of her life. He brought light into her eyes that she lost when she got captured. He made her not give up and stay strong, keeping her strong until she was released and escaped Auswitch.

This is Gena Turgels's town, Krakow, Poland. She grew up in Krakow till she was 16. On the night of Sept. 1, 1939, her hometown was bombed. The Nazis ended up capturing her and her whole family. She got caught and was taken to a camp in Germany, Auschwitz. She was taken from her hometown and never got to go back until she was released from her last concentration camp many years later when she was ancient.

Gena Turgel was first taken to a camp, Plaszow. She survived that for two and a half years, being one of the most accessible camps, but then she marched to Auswitch camp. It was the most arduous, deadliest center ever. She went from the most accessible base to the hardest. It took her a while to get used to it, and it was a hard time every second. Even though she survived this camp, she had to endure many other commands. She was taken to a total of 5 bases, Auswitch being the hardest.

Gena Turgel and her family were in the uprising of the ghetto. Both her brothers fought in the war. They both got shot and died when Gena was still a pretty young teenager. She lost seven siblings in total in the war combined. All of her family was in the ghetto uprising, and her family fought as hard as possible for the war. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough, and they got captured after their hometown was bombed.
