The father of Mary Stuart had died only a week before her birth. He was very devastated from the defeat that his army had suffered from the English in a battle at Solway Moss. So much so, that he saw little hope for the future.
When he found out about the birth of his daughter he said as follows:

"Woe is me.My dynasty came with a lass. It will go with a lass."

Mary Stuart, the Queen of Scots was born in Linlithgow Palace on December 8. The day of the princesses birth was taken as a good omen to many since it was a feast day in honor of the Virgin Mary.
Since her father and two older brothers had died she was almost immediately pronounced Queen.

‘’...the infant princess became queen of Scots.’’

She was also betrothed to Henry VIII but the Scots were determined to get out of the proposed marriage when Henry proposed to murder Cardinal Beaton, a great Scots patriarch.

"In July 1548, they sent the five-year-old Mary to France, her mother’s homeland. The Scots Parliament had agreed to her marriage with Francis, the heir of Henry II, king of France from 1547 to 1559."

February 8, 1587 would become the day where the favored Queen of Scotland would be executed after 19 years of imprisonment by her cousin Elizabeth I. This came about from the fear of Mary overthrowing Elizabeth for being a catholic unlike Elizabeth who was a protestant.“Stretching out her arms [she] cried, In manus tuas, Domine, [in your hands, God] three or four times. Then she, lying very still upon the block … she endured two strokes of the other executioner with an axe, she making very small noise or none at all, and not stirring any part of her from the place where she lay: and so the executioner cut off her head [and lifted it up] to the view of all the assembly and bade God save the Queen.” Because of her bravery during the moment before she would forever be gone, she became known as a tragic yet heroic figure.
