William Lloyd Garrison is one of the main people responsible for the abolishment of slavery. The reason for this is that he had a newspaper called "The Liberator" where he frequently expressed his opinions and beliefs on the abolishments of slavery. He believed strongly in the abolishment or ending of slavery. Although he experienced hate and threats for his opinions in his newspaper, he never stopped sharing them due to his passion for the ending of slavery.

John Brown was an abolitionist who was passionate enough about abolishing slavery that he and a group of around twenty men planned to take over a federal arsenal and would supply slaves in the area with weapons to lead a revolt to "end slavery once and for all". His group of men were successful in taking over the arsenal, but federal troops put down the rebellion before it could grow. Brown refused insanity at his trial before he was hung.

Sojourner Truth was a crucial contributor to the abolishment of slavery. She was born in 1797 with the name Isabella Baumfree. She later changed her name to "Sojourner" because it means "traveler" as well as "truth" because she believed that the truth of slavery needed to be spread. Sojourner contributed to the abolishment of slavery by traveling the country talking to large groups of people all about the horrors of slavery and how it needs to end.
