The Misfit a complex character found in "A good man is hard to find" is the stories main antagonist, an escaped convict and everyone's demise. The Misfit was incarcerated for murder, and has a serial killer tendency to note down every crime he has committed, in order to see that he was rightfully convicted. Reason being, when he was convicted for the death of his father, his memory had reached an impasse. So the Misfit built the habit of noting all the minuscule details of each crime he has committed. An important detail to note is that the Misfit doesn't view his actions as right or wrong, rather if he commits a crime, he knows he must be punished. as seen with the conversation with the grandmother.
