1) Adab towards Parents

"Wahai ayahku" from the story of Prophet Ibrahim
This refers to the story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) in the Qur'an where he calls out to his father with respect and love, even when his father was not following the right path. The lesson here is showing respect and calling our parents with kind words, even if they do not agree with our beliefs or actions.

Calling parents with kind terms
This emphasizes the importance of addressing our parents with respectful and loving words. Instead of calling them in harsh or rude tones, use terms of endearment, such as "Mama," "Abah," or other affectionate terms in your culture. This helps create a loving and respectful relationship.

Don’t retaliate against your parents' wrongdoings
Even if parents make mistakes or treat us unfairly, we should not respond with anger or retaliation. In Islam, the concept of patience (sabr) is highly valued when dealing with such situations. We should always show patience and understanding, as they are the ones who raised us.

Pray for them
One of the best ways to show kindness and respect to our parents is by making dua (prayers) for them. Asking Allah to give them health, happiness, and forgiveness is a beautiful act of devotion.

2) Adab towards Neighbors

Greet with Salam
Saying "Salam" (peace) is a simple yet meaningful way to greet our neighbors, creating an atmosphere of peace and kindness. Islam teaches us to spread peace wherever we go.

Cover the faults of neighbors
Protecting the dignity of our neighbors by not gossiping about their flaws or weaknesses is an important moral principle. This includes not spreading rumors or talking behind their backs.

Help or visit your neighbors
Being considerate and helping neighbors when they need assistance is a noble act. Visiting them, especially during times of illness or hardship, strengthens community bonds and shows care.

Always be gentle
We should treat our neighbors with respect and kindness, avoiding harsh words or actions. Being gentle and thoughtful in our interactions with them fosters a sense of harmony and cooperation.

Be humble
Humility is crucial in our interactions with neighbors. This means not being proud or superior to others, but treating everyone with equal respect regardless of their background or status.

3) Adab towards Friends

Smile and be cheerful
One of the easiest ways to build strong friendships is by showing a friendly face. Smiling when you see your friends or when you greet them creates a positive atmosphere and makes people feel comfortable.

Don’t be arrogant
Being humble and not acting superior to your friends is important. Treating everyone as equals without arrogance helps to strengthen the bond of friendship.

Do not whisper when there are three people
When you are with two other people, avoid whispering or speaking in a way that excludes one of the friends. It can make them feel left out or uncomfortable. Always make sure to include everyone in the conversation.

Avoid mocking or making fun of others
Islam teaches us to avoid mocking or insulting our friends. Respecting each other’s differences and being supportive is crucial in maintaining good friendships.

Mutual forgiveness
In any relationship, misunderstandings can happen. Being ready to forgive each other and not hold grudges is key to preserving lasting friendships.

Listen to your friends' problems
Being a good listener is an important trait in any friendship. Listening carefully to your friend’s problems and offering support helps to show that you care and value their feelings.

Before standing in prayer, one must prepare both physically and spiritually. Proper preparation ensures that the prayer is not only valid but also meaningful and impactful.

1. Ṭahārah (Purification)

✅Physical purification through wuḍū’ (ablution) or tayammum (dry ablution) is essential before ṣalāh.

-It symbolizes inner cleanliness and spiritual readiness to stand before Allah.

-A pure body reflects a heart that desires to connect sincerely with its Creator.

2. Conditions for the Validity (Ṣiḥḥah) of Prayer

✅Includes the proper time, facing the qiblah, and wearing clean and appropriate clothing.

✅One must also fulfill all pillars (arkān) of ṣalāh: intention (niyyah), standing, recitation, bowing, prostration, etc.

✅Neglecting any of these may render the prayer invalid or deficient.

3. Types and Flexibility of Ṣalāh

Islam provides concessions for different situations:

✅Musafir (traveler): Allowed to shorten (qaṣr) and combine (jamaʿ) prayers.

✅Illness: Can pray sitting, lying down, or with gestures based on capability.

✅Sunnah/Nafl prayers: Bring additional spiritual reward and help develop khushūʿ.

-Understanding these variations helps maintain prayer in all circumstances.

4. Khushūʿ (Focus and Humility)

Khushūʿ is the essence of a meaningful prayer , a state of deep humility, awareness, and submission.

However, khushūʿ will not arise if the external and internal preparation is neglected.

Performing prayer hastily, without proper purification, understanding, or focus, deprives the soul of spiritual benefit.

Ṣalāh is not just a physical act of worship, but a powerful spiritual training that cultivates virtuous character and inner strength. When performed with khushūʿ (humility and focus), ṣalāh becomes a tool for self-transformation.

One of the key virtues developed through ṣalāh is al-Ṭāʿah (obedience) which is the ability to submit wholeheartedly to Allah's commands, even when faced with hardship or personal desires. It teaches a believer to prioritize divine will over worldly temptations.

Ṣalāh also serves as a form of al-Jihād, not in the physical sense, but as a constant struggle against the ego (nafs) and the distractions of the world. Standing before Allah five times a day disciplines the soul and strengthens inner resilience.

Another profound benefit is muḥāsabah (self-reflection). After every prayer, a sincere believer is encouraged to reflect upon their actions, seek forgiveness, and renew their commitment to improve. Ṣalāh becomes a moment of spiritual reset.

Through consistent prayer, one also develops ʿiffah (self-restraint). The spiritual energy and moral awareness gained from ṣalāh protect a person from sinful behavior, building integrity and control over desires.

Finally, tawaḍḍuʿ (humility) is deeply instilled in the heart of a person who truly experiences khushūʿ. Bowing and prostrating before the Creator remind us of our smallness and dependence on Him, nurturing a humble attitude not only towards Allah but also in interactions with fellow human beings.

➡️ A prayer performed with true khushūʿ refines both the inner self and outward behavior, making one a better servant of Allah and a better person in society.

“Indeed, successful are the believers , those who humble themselves in their prayer.”
