1. Charisma – A certain quality of an individual personality, by virtue of which he is set apart from ordinary men and treated as endowed with supernatural, superhuman, or at least specifically exceptional powers or qualities.

a. Reaction – Employees can feel challenged, charisma is not a common personality trait and at times the energy put off can become destructive.

b. Benefits – It is a leadership style which creates an emotional appeal, it gives people a chance to think differently, it can be used to create a positive impact on society, it prioritizes the learning process, and it creates a shared identity.

c. Challenges – It is dependent upon the energy levels of the leader, it prevents new learning opportunities from occurring, it can change the value systems of the followers, it can be used for selfish ambition, and it is not a leadership style which fits into a rigid structure.

2. Integrity – Integrity is the practice of being honest and showing a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles and values. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions.

a. Reaction – Telling the complete truth at all times can be destructive and counterproductive. The challenge is to find a balance.

b. Benefits – It ensures that you are following the law, it helps to create a healthier workplace culture, it creates an emphasis on being conscientious, it creates a workplace that is inclusive, and it creates a culture of accountability.

c. Challenges - it requires comprehensive support to be effective, it is a costly leadership style to implement, it requires consistency without fail, it is dependent upon a leader’s ability to influence others, it requires clarity at all times.

3. Determination – Determined leaders are very focused and attentive to tasks. Determination is the decision to get the job done; it includes characteristics such as initiative, persistence, and drive. People with determination are willing to assert themselves, they are proactive, and they have the capacity to preserve in the face of obstacles. Being determined includes dominance at times, especially in situations where others need direction.

a. Reaction – When you’re so focused you create tunnel vision which in turn has a negative effect on the effectiveness of personal and professional goals. When applying this trait one needs to not be overly assertive. Strive to find how energize the team in a way that is relevant at their level.

b. Benefits – Motivation to move forward (not limited failures), gives hope when others fall off, builds resilience in the face of setbacks, it builds self-belief in capabilities.

c. Challenges – Can quickly cause workplace envy, it can be misconstrued as stupidity and leave people broken and battered, overly driven causing internal conflict which could affect work place behavior, unable to see their limitations causing burnout on self and team.

Conclusion: Overall the key component to successful leadership is balance. Know when to lean on strengths and when they can be harmful. Being open and willing to adapt to your surroundings.
