         <description><![CDATA[<div>The processes of photosynthesis and cellular respiration are two of the main energy conversions that support life on this planet.&nbsp; Photosynthesis occurs in eukaryotic organisms such as plants, algae, and some types of unicellular protists.&nbsp; The chemical reactions occur on the inner membranes of an organelle called the chloroplast, a kind of plastid.&nbsp; Prokaryotic cyanobacteria also carry on photosynthesis, but the enzymes for those reactions are attached to the inside of their plasma membrane instead.&nbsp; Cellular respiration occurs in all eukaryotic organisms.&nbsp; The chemical reactions occur in an organelle called the mitochondria.&nbsp; We can compare and contrast these two energy conversions by studying the reactants and products in terms of energy and matter.</div>]]></description>
