I decided to continue with my idea of a short horror instead of an awareness campaign as I felt I am stronger in this area and have more experience in creating horrors.

I looked into existing short horror on YouTube and took ideas from some, I researched into the short horror, 'The Smiling Man' as this had similar ideas and concepts I want to use in my own short horror. This was effective for me as it allowed me to develop my own ideas and therefore I was able to write a possible narrative. I looked into camera techniques and researched more into what an audience looked for in horror films this allowed me to add more details into my possible narratives and what target audience I am aiming for. As I am working with Jess, we have both created separate narrative ideas, we think it is a good idea to allow people to read and vote on what they think is the best narrative, this will allow us to receive feedback that will help in the development of our project. 

For this week, my main focus is to develop more research into my target audience, and create a profile of research. I will also carry out some test footage, I want to practice using different camera equipment that might we might use in the project, doing this will let me develop my techniques and ideas. This week is also a good opportunity to develop my ideas and receive feedback from other peers and tutors and also possibly comparing to industry practice. 
I will have a team meeting with Jess so we can begin creating production schedules and plan what needs to be done in the following weeks and discuss our feedback. Researching into existing popular and most rated horror films helped me the most within my research this week as it was helpful in the development of my ideas and narrative. I was able to understand what has made certain horror movies the best to see and can then use them factors when creating my own. I researched into some social awareness campaigns as I am also considering creating one for my project. 
I was able to reflect upon my skills and strengths as a director when creating my previous horror, from this I am able to develop my idea and narrative from using skills I used previously.

I identified the target audience I am going to focus my project on, as I am looking to create a short horror I researched into the BBFC requirements. These impact my idea as there are certain things I can and can't include. 
The research I conducted into my specific area has helped my within my ideas, as its horror I wanted to research what an audience looks to see in a horror film, this included things such as build up of tension, low camera angles, the use of silence and something evil or demonic, these were factors I had already considered including in my short film but it was useful to research. 
The role I would consider for this project is director, as I have experience from previous projects of being a director I feel I have a good understanding of what responsibilities a director needs. 

During this week I had the problem of who I was considering working with on this project. Myself and another student had a plan of who we were going to work with but we had the issue of the third person changing their mind and then not wanting to work on this project. Therefore to over come this we have had to ask another student to work with us instead which is a relief.

I would say my organisation this week was good, I made sure my mind maps were complete, my mood boards are complete and on my Padlet wall, and my discussion was recorded and uploaded as evidence. 
This week my main focus is to create a strong narrative and begin to plan my actors, locations and job roles within our group. I mainly looked into prosthetics and what I will need for my project. After conducting some useful research I was able to create an idea of what make up and prosthetics I will need for my villain in my short horror. I followed a step by step tutorial on how to make a prosthetic zombie rabbit mouth, this experiment was very useful for me as all though the finished product wasn't perfect, myself and Jess have now had practice and will be able to successfully create another one which we will then use in our film (picture 1).

Creating job responsibilities and a job profile was very helpful within my planning. Myself and Jess were able to look into what responsibilities our job roles included and therefore we were able to list what needed to be completed for our short film. As I have the job role of producer and editor, this gave me the opportunity to look further into my roles and the responsibilities I have (picture 3). 

This week I also completed writing my project proposal and action plan. From previously completing these for my music video proposal I have always found them slightly difficult. I have improved my writing for my project proposal since the previous one I created as I had a better understanding of what each section was asking for so I was able to.
Myself and Jess continued to develop the concept of our idea into more detail. We used this week to begin some pre - production documents, as the producer I begin completing documents such as the production schedule. I also conducted some audience research which was useful for me to have an understanding of what sort of audience we are going to be aiming at and the reasons why. This week our main focus is to conduct some more experiments with filming equipment and complete our script and storyboard.
During the easter holidays we are aiming to film our footage, this should only take a day or two. I enjoyed reviewing and summarising all the research I had conducted for my project as it was interesting to see where the majority of my ideas came from. 
This was a good opportunity for me to understand what had been researched and what I possibly hadn't looked into yet and could then research more. 

For the development of our project, our main tasks for this week and the following week were to look into ways we could create to props we need as they seem difficult, after looking at some websites and YouTube videos myself and Jess have a better idea of what we're creating. Fortunately though Jess was able to conduct work for our project to ensure we wouldn't miss any deadlines or become behind everyone.

My first week back after my illness was the opportunity for Jess to show me everything she was able to complete and discuss what is still to be done within our project, she showed me the pre - production documents she had done which included a script and a shot list, this gave us the chance to discuss and change anything. During this week we took the opportunity to begin to film, we looked into what shots we wanted to film as we didn't have all of our resources to film everything, we had a productive day and managed to film our opening and closing scenes our location was perfect for the setting we wanted, as we were outside the camera picked up a lot of noise from the wind, from this we are going to look into using some foley. Unfortunately as I've looked back on the footage some shots and scenes are blurry, from this we are discussing what needs to be re-filmed and learn how to ensure everything is in focus. Our focus for this week is to either buy or create a mask for our 'rabbit' and possibly a costume. We also want to make sure all footage is filmed or re-filmed this week as then we can begin editing and putting the footage together.  
To finish the week, I uploaded all footage we had filmed and put it in its own folder, so its all together. I also looked into a professional film editor and some of their existing work, I looked

We spent our days gathering all our footage, we spent all day on Wednesday filming and making our props, we used cling film to make long fingers which we then painted and let them dry. Once we gathered everything to our location we added a slit in the giant egg and filled it with treats as part of the storyline. My main area of responsibility this week was camera as Jess was one of the characters. Once everything was in place we began filming, as we were in the woods the camera came up quite dark, this was easily fixed as I had remembered what Dave had shown us to enhance the brightness on the camera. A practical issue we faced during this production time was members of public in the backgrounds or walking past, as this was a public area there wasn't much we could do apart from wait until any members of the public were out of any shots. Another issue was my younger sister, our actress sometimes loosing interest and getting distracted by other things that were around here.

After reviewing our footage we were very pleased about how the shots turned out, as the camera picked up a lot of background and unnecessary noise, we are going to create some foley sounds instead and add those to the footage. 
As one of our characters is a young child, we used my younger sister. I found working with a child quite fun as she brought a lot of enthusiasm and excitement to the production. I feel though if our actress wasn't my younger sibling it may have been harder for myself or Jess to tell them what the needed to do as they may be shy. 
As the editor, my main focus now is to edit the footage into something intense and exciting, I have gathered the footage into a sequence and my main focus now is to add effects, transitions, logos, foley and sound effects.

Our main focus of the week was editing. As the editor I focused mainly on what techniques and effects I could add into the footage to make our film scary and intense, I looked at a lot of YouTube videos and tutorials to help me learn some techniques. I managed to complete the editing this week but I still want to add some more effects and audio. This week we filmed our foley sounds, these were mainly the sounds of footsteps walking on gravel, the sound of twigs snapping and other background sounds. This went well as once added into the footage it fits perfectly and sounds good.

As the editor I began completing the rushes log, I found it a good way to reflect on all the footage we managed to film and was footage was good and not and what was then added into the sequence, I plan on completing it this week as it is an important piece of production work. 
For promotional material I created a film poster for our project, for the image I used a capture of one of the facial expression our actress Ivy gave during filming, I feel it was taken at a really good angle and her expression was perfect to get people excited for the image, I used to opportunity to darken to image and and text to help promote our project. 

Myslef and Jess plan on finishing this week by reflecting on what pre production work has been completed and what hasn’t. As I was off sick for a few weeks at the beginning I want to make sure we haven’t missed anything important. Final touches of editing will also be completed as we want it to be the best it can. We focused this week on ensuring our final edit was done and how we wanted it to be, unfortunately as myself and Jess aren't here next week we used this week to arrange another possible time in which we can exhibit our work to peers and tutors.

As the editor, I took main responsibility in ensuring our footage was fully edited in the best way and in a way that would be exciting and creepy for audience viewers. We wanted to add an effect to our footage to really help create the tension we wanted, to do this Dave gave me some different effects to practice with and choose from. I practiced with many of these effects, many of them came up to dark, especially during the scenes in the forest as the original footage was already quite dark. Eventually myself and Jess chose the effect from, 'The Babadook' as we thought it gave our film the perfect sense of fear and creepiness. It was also fitting for the scenes within the forest as it only made them slightly dark than originally. The only issue I found I had with this effect was with the opening scenes, as there was a lot of sunlight in these scenes, the effects made them really bright which I thought could give audience viewers a sense of a dream, myself and Jess viewed the footage and decided it was the best effect that we could use, despite the opening scenes. 
I used this time to complete my rushes log and any other pre - production work in which I was responsible for. 
To prepare for our exhibition, we discussed what props and posters we wanted to use. From the fashion department we borrowed a mannequin so we could dress it with our rabbit costume and mask. We also printed two of our posters and I took the time to create a questionnaire for our audience to fill and give us some feedback on what they thought about the film. After reviewing the feedback the majority of people found the film creepy and they enjoyed it. All the people who gave us feedback said they found the use of a young child in the film really good as they felt worried for her.
