Darkest Hour is a British war drama film directed by Joe Wright. The leading actor is Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill, the British Prime Minister in 1940. The cast includes Kristia Scott Thomas as Churcill"s wife and Lilly James as his secretary. It was released in 2017 at the Tellerine Film Festival.

It's set in London 1940 and the plot was written by Anthony McCarten. It's an account of the first weeks of Churchill as Prime Minister during the beginning of the World War II, specifically May and June 1940. He must confront the difficult choice: negociate with Hitler and save the British people at an iminent invasion or fight against the nazi forces.

I recommend this film because it's very exciting like a political thriller and to see the perftormance of Gary Oldman. He's so brilliant as Churchill that he won the Academy Award for best actor. In my opinion, Darkest Hour is an unmissable film for the movie lovers.

Maria de Lourdes Allevato
