One of the biggest inovations in early technology for educations comes in the form of the videotape. Debuting in the 1950's the videotape challenged the traditional idea of needing a teacher there to educate you and supplied the students with lessons from across the world from other professors or experts on source material. The effect of this is still seen today with teachers linking videos from other educators or even recording their own lessons for the students to watch at their leisure

Photocopier

Arriving not too long after the videotapes came the photocopier. This allows teachers to mass produce papers with extreme ease and efficiency. We still see this in heavy use today throughout most if not every classroom. In my opinion one of the most influential and useful additions to education technology

Scantron

In the 70's the scantron came into circulation. This test taking tool allowed for a standardized way of taking and grading tests. It helped teachers grade each test almost instantly, saving hours of time and effort that could have been better put into lesson plans or other things. The scantron still sees use today in some standardized and state testing showing how useful it truly was. It has been phased out somewhat by the truly instant grading of an online test

Computers/ Internet

The internet really opened up limitless potential when it comes to education. The innovations in the internet have been changing the landscape of education since their invention and is the blueprint for so many of our current classes in school including this one! It was the face of education during the pandemic where we solely relied on it to get us through.

Smart boards

The smart board helped revolutionize the standard classroom blackboard and opened up more interactive and user friendly lesson, being able to display lessons on the board and have students easily go up and write on it. As well as being able to smoothly transition between lessons or to tools such as a number line or anything in-between.

This fully revolutionizes the classroom by putting it entirely in an online space where students can view the full course at any time as well as easily see what assignments they have due for any and all classes via a calendar. It allows them to smoothly navigate between classes and work at them on their own time as well as allowing educators to organize assignments and videos all in one familiar space for students.
