King Leopold was the government of a small country in Europe called Belgium. He controlled The Congo Free State from 1908 to 1960. King Leopold exploited the people of the Congo and used them as slaves, he reduced half the population by 10 million.

King Leopold funded the operation to take over the Congo, he sent people to forcibly take over civilizations/tribes. King Leopold sent them and told them to put the Colognes people into slavery, they were forced to make rubber. Due to the rubber market growing this made a lot of money for King Leopold II. Ten million people died and a lot were beaten, raped and tortured. King Leopold did not do it with his own hands, but due to the funds he sent, people took over the land. He is careless about the people and there health/well being, he is just a very greedy man.

As a result of propaganda and hiding the operation of exploiting the Colognes, Leopold stayed as a good political figure for a lot of people. King Leopold lied and never told anyone what was really happening in Congo. King Leopold knew what he was doing was wrong but he was doing it for the money and power. Witch he got that from the Congo Free State. This shows how he knew it was wrong and as a result people were dying, (ten million people) but he did not care about them because he was only hungry for power.

King Leopold was very jealous of her cousin queen Victoria who ruled Great Britain and Ireland at the time. He thought that he was a better person than Victoria and he wanted to show his power to the world. King Leopold took over Congo Free State and showed massive success in rubber production, producing him a lot of money. King Leopold showed his power, he thought that power meant respect and fear. This demonstrates that King Leopold only cared about his power and fear. He did not care about the people in the Congo getting beaten, tortured and raped, he simply only cared about himself.

This evidence card demonstrates how King Leopold funded the operation for wealth, using slavery. Slavery was illegal at the time and he still did it. He only wanted money and power. Funding the operation to kill still makes it the blame, some of the soldiers listening to King Leopold's orders and they probably don't know whether what they were doing was moral or not. It's mostly Leopold's fault, if a hit man gets paid the client is the mastermind behind the operation, starting the plan in the first place.
