This is monitored by staff in school and at the end of each half term, pupils who have consistently read will be rewarded for their tremendous effort.

We are aware that two large vehicles keep parking on the street and we are working to get this stopped. Please do not make it more difficult by parking cars on the street. We need to be mindful of the residents that live at the top of Leigh Street.

These routines might seem small on their own, but together they make a big difference! We’ve been so impressed with how children are rising to the challenge and showing what it means to be part of a caring and responsible school community.

Collective Worship – Faith & God's House 🌍✨

This week in Collective Worship, we explored the incredible true story of a church in Kiruna, Sweden, which has been carefully moved 5km to a new location because the ground beneath it has become unstable due to iron ore mining. This church, built in 1912 and considered one of Sweden’s most beautiful wooden buildings, was slowly and safely transported on special trailers - an event watched by thousands!

We used this story to help us reflect on an important message from the Bible: that the Church is not just a building, but a family made up of people.

Through this, we reminded the children that God's presence is not limited to special places or buildings - He is with His people wherever they go. Just like the church in Kiruna was moved but still remained a place of worship, Christians believe that they carry God’s presence with them in their hearts and lives.

We’ve enjoyed thinking about what it means to be part of a community where everyone is valued and connected, and how we can each help to build something strong and lasting - together.

It has been another very busy week in school this week. The children are now very much settled into their learning and this is really heart warming to see.

The huge push on attendance is really having an impact and I'd like to thank everyone in their efforts to get our children into school each day. Please can I remind you that any absence needs to be reported into school each day. This can now be done using the school Arbor app.

Next week on Wednesday, are school photos. Please can you ensure that you have given permission on the app otherwise photos will not be taken of your child if this is not completed.

This week has seen the support of the Greater Manchester Police Force in helping us to safeguard our pupils by removing a camper van from the street that had been parked for weeks. They also reminded a local resident about parking directly in front of the entrance to Nursery. Our priority is keeping the staff and pupils safe - please support the school by not parking your vehicle outside the Main Entrance to Nursery on any morning. Any vehicles that persist in doing this will be fined by traffic wardens - help us keep the entrance and exit to school safe.

We recently shared this poster in school, highlighting five amazing benefits of reading books:

📖 1. Exercise your brain – Just like physical activity keeps our bodies healthy, reading keeps our brains active and sharp. It helps develop memory and critical thinking skills.

💡 2. Develops creativity – Books open up new worlds and spark imagination. Children who read often are better at coming up with creative ideas and thinking outside the box.

✏️ 3. Improves writing skills – Reading exposes children to a wide range of vocabulary, sentence structures, and storytelling techniques, which in turn helps improve their own writing.

🎯 4. Increases concentration and focus – Reading requires attention, and the more children read, the better they get at focusing for longer periods of time – a skill that supports learning in all subjects.

❤️ 5. Increases empathy – Through stories, children experience different perspectives and learn to understand how others think and feel. This helps them grow into kind and compassionate individuals.

We encourage all families to set aside some quiet time each day to enjoy a book together. Whether it’s reading aloud with younger children or discussing books with older ones, these shared moments are not only educational but also a wonderful way to bond.
