In the title list LAB TIME / GROUP NAME / last name, first name of each member in photo from left to right.Everyone will meet with their groups this week during lab time. For this PADLET SUBMIT a short description of your progress. Did you refine your question? What data will you collect? Who are some key players you will need to complete your project? What is some useful research your group members found? Snap a pic of your group with the Double peace kiss sign! And have fun!

We calculated the amount of rainfall that can be captured from the roof of the building to be 12,135 gallons. This would fill a 55 gallon rain barrel 220 times in a year. More than enough water for 25 hemlock trees which need 485 gallons per tree or 1.33 gallons per day. NEXT we shall install a rain barrel or cistern and irrigation tape.

So far we have collected data in the B and C wings in Donovan Hall on the water fill stations and we have researched how many plastic bottles have been saved from each station. We have not refined our question because we feel that our initial question will work well with what we have gathered for data so far. We will collect more data in the A wing and in Patriot Hall and Liberty Hall. Our key players in this project to help us gather data will mainly be ourselves, so that we can get into the buildings and collect the data. The dorm residents will also be key players because we can see how many of them use the fill stations and we can survey them as well. We have found websites on water conservation, plastic water bottle waste, water fill stations and their impact on the environment and more.

1:00 PM / Fleet vehicles with auxiliary services. Etheridge, Tyler. Vascocu, Corey.

When we met to do our research we went to auxiliary services to ask them about the two shuttle buses on campus. We found out the hours that the buses run every day, how much it costs to fill up the fuel tanks every day, and the stops that they make on and off campus. We also found out that they will be purchasing a new, larger vehicle for next year that will run on diesel fuel. We were going to try and see how much money could be saved by switching these shuttles to be electric rather than relying on gasoline. We are still in the process of refining our question and main focus of the project.

Turner, Maddox; Carroll, Shane; Fields, Bailey; Wilde, Hannah; Eggleston, Jared.
We obtained a few e-mails of people to contact in order to gather information for our research. We then e-mailed them asking to see if they were willing to participate in helping us with our project. We refined our question to ask "How can UNG benefit from the use of solar energy?"

We were able to schedule an interview with the director of Chow in order to gain more insight to Chow's food provider and the new plan they are going to request in sight of attempting to add more locally produced foods. With this we will be able to ask what the current plan is in comparison to the up and coming plan, as well any insights he might have as this is his field of expertise. We also were able to find benefits of locally produced food, as well as find out the source of the locally produced food Chow currently uses.

(Since we weren't able to technically get any on location information from Chow, which is the basis for our project, we added this lovely backdrop to make up for it)

During our meeting time we were able to sit down with Dr. Ellis and further discuss our question and refine some key elements. We also were able to get an I-pad to use as we locate and document tree locations around campus. We have already emailed two key contributors that will help us successfully complete our project. Of those two, we contacted the head of landscaping here on Dahlonega's campus to learn about current policies that are in use to protect our tree population. We will be using an electronic software to enter tree locations into a database; we will also be identifying the types of trees and providing a general health report.
