They always had their attention on Jo. Kai snapped when he was turning 22 he wanted to merge with his sister for their family tradition but instead of merging, his family sent him to an alternate dimension called the prison world. He finally escaped after 18 years and while he escaped another witch, bonnie was stuck there. He came back to finally merge with his twin but instead of merging with his twin, he merged with his younger brother luke. Kai won the merge and got some of luke's qualities like feelings. After Kai had got feelings, he felt bad about what he did to bonnie and leaving her behind. He helped the others get bonnie out of the prison world. When bonnie got out Kai wanted to apologize to her but she wouldn't accept her apology and he was tricked into being sent into another prison world which made him snap again. Usopp is generally considered one of the weak comedic characters in the crew. Usopp had joined the crew because he wanted to be a strong warrior of the sea. He functioned as the carpenter, he fixed up the ship when it was damaged. Usopp while being weak was also a coward and would run and abandon his friends in stressful situation. But once his friend was in trouble and the both of them could have been killed. That was when he realized that he was needed and was able to stand up to them. Over the course of the story Usopp struggles with being weak and cowardly but wanting to feel needed. Once he even fought with his friend(the captain) because he felt like they were abandoning the ship and didnt feel needed. After being defeated he leaves for awhile but comes back and rejoins them. In a later part of the story Usopp creates a physical mask that he wears. While he wears the mask he pretends to be "Sogeking", an alter ego he created to be strong and brave.
