My Favorite E-lesson

My favorite e-lesson so far was the e-lesson nr 9. I am not referring to the main activity, but to the extra-curricular activity, the mother's day activity. The reason this is my favorite is because while writing this text I realized once again how important family is. So I really enjoyed doing this activity.

The text I most enjoyed doing was this. Basically the site where the activity was was giving 8 random words and I had to write a text with those 8 words.

Eight words:      dance/shame/enormous/train/late/worm/fruit/command

Text:
Today was the day of my dance performance and it was really bad… I was dancing, I tripped and felt, it was a great shame. It was a enormous drop. But in the end, I took a deep breath and came to take the train to home. But to make my day worse, the train was late. I finally got home anddecided to eat a peace of fruit. But today was my unluckly day so guess what was in the fruit… a worm. After all this, i decided to go to bed watch TV. When I got there, I couldn’t find the command. I got tired and decided to go sleep. This was the worst day of my life.

The passive voice

Passive voice is used when the focus is on the action. It is not important or not known, however, who or what is performing the action.

Example: My bike was stolen.

In the example above, the focus is on the fact that my bike was stolen. I do not know, however, who did it.

Sometimes a statement in passive is more polite than active voice, as the following example shows:

Example: A mistake was made.

In this case, I focus on the fact that a mistake was made, but I do not blame anyone (e.g. You have made a mistake.).

Form of Passive

Subject + finite form of to be + Past Participle (3rd column of irregular verbs)

Example: A letter was written.

When rewriting active sentences in passive voice, note the following:

the object of the active sentence becomes the subject of the passive sentence;

the finite form of the verb is changed (to be + past participle);

the subject of the active sentence becomes the object of the passive sentence (or is dropped).
