Feedback will play a part in Spanish because sometimes knowing what they did well in can help them reinforce what they are doing right like using a specific rule in grammar the can continue doing it or with pronunciation. Then with corrections sometimes that can help them see what they are doing wrong and then apply those corrections the next time they say a word or write something.

The way in which you can prime students to receive criticism of their work is start by changing the language and framing it as a "Glow/Grow". For Glow it can be something amazing that they did in their work and for "Grow" it is something they can improve on for next time. It is important to start off with glows because it helps students see the positives first instead of just focusing on the negatives.

Feedback in my content area of Spanish is extremely important because I will have students who are learning the language for the first time in their life. I will have to constantly evaluate them in order to see if they are grasping the language. Not only that, but for my students who are already Spanish speakers, they will also be evaluated on their reading and writing skills. My feedback will be important because it will ultimately help them improve in the content area.

I think that feedback should be based on helping the students build off their current skills on critical analysis, pattern recognition, reading and writing, but also research. We all come from different levels of skill, and its important for them to reach that potential as realistic as possible.

I think with criticism, it should be focused and detailed where it matters. It should never be a massive reason to lose points if the student doesn't have critical basic skills to write or do the work. However should there be an assignment where the student is obviously not trying or disinterested is when a 1-1 talk with the student should be done.

Quality feedback for me personally is constructive criticism. I appreciate honesty and openness about how my work could be better and where I can improve on.

Feedback plays a part in my content because it helps students see where they can grow in their language skills, reading skills, listening skills, and writing skills. The one thing I will make sure I don’t do is just give “simple” feedback. For example, if a student gets a D on their essay I won’t just write “67%”. I would give more feedback so the student knows what to work on or see where they had troubles in

In ASL it is important to gives students feedback because they may be doing the wrong hand shapes or palm orientation that would change the meaning of a sign. Giving a compliment sandwich would prime my students to receive criticism on their work. Giving them a compliment, then giving a correction, and then ending with a praise like "I am proud". I think this layering technique is a great way for students to feel encouraged to keep learning. Direct criticism can be hard for students to hear.

What constitutes quality feedback is something that is specific, actionable and constructive for my students. Besides this, I feel that my students' feedback needs to be goal oriented to the learning objectives that I want them to hit on the lesson. For social science it would look like something like students having supporting claims with evidence/facts from primary/secondary sources

Review Common Mistakes and Pitfalls w Class as a whole so students give themselves a pat on the back for what they got right and are less hard on themselves on areas of improvement.

B) Individualized/Peer

Students learn what they can improve on exactly what areas of their essay or writing. Can also learn to use their peers as a resource

C) Specific

Provide examples and show concrete guidelines.

D) Timely

Not too far from when they wrote it. So they recall their writing process and it is consistent an ongoing

Feedback plays a part in social science classrooms, since it gives me the opportunity to inform the students of how well they are understanding the content, rather than merely memorizing historical facts, dates, or definitions. If I am happy with my students' performance, I am also able to provide positive reinforcement to encourage it even further.
