From Native women being killed and mistreated in Canada to the Mike Brown Incident in Ferguson. These two Hash-tags have been littering social media websites trying to bring attention to these situations. --- Social Media activism isn’t activism in its own right, it’s a tool that activists can use. In the recent #BlackLivesMatter and #NativeLivesMatter movements where aided by the awareness brought to public knowledge by social media. There have been large protests that would never have been as large without communication aided by social media. --- These issues are very important and expose different kinds of racism not seen by the public, and using the social media networks to spread awareness.
