I think that she may have explored these controversial themes in her works because she had a very rocky relationship with her father, because of the abuse, and with her first partner who abandoned her after giving birth to their child. I definitely think that both societal conditions as well as her life experiences pushed her to write about these problems. It was written in 1792 and talks about how women should be treated with equal dignity and respect that men have, in the sense of education. Some of her other works include A Vindication of the Rights of Man, which was written in 1790 and was a political pamphlet about the French Revolution and the merits of monarchy. Mary’s childhood was brought up by an abusive father who spent his fortune on unsuccessful ventures in farming. Her mother ended up dying when she was 21 years old. This definitely impacted the way that she not only thought about men but also the relationships between man and woman. Mary’s career focused on advocating for educational and social equality for women. She called for the betterment of women's status through such political change. Some of her accomplishments include becoming one of the founding feminist philosphers, as well as her novel A Vindictation of the Rights of Woman.     This article goes into the specifics of how Mary felt about marriage and her beliefs of what it should be, equal. This shows her mindset, especially that of a feminist.

After her first suicide attempt, she started hanging around with Joseph Johnson’s circle, which William was apart of. They had a passionate love affair and after finding out she was pregnant, they decided they needed to get married in order for their child to be legitimate. After the birth Mary died of septicemia, which was caused by her placenta breaking and causing infection.
