Everyone around the world should be taking apart of Black History Month because it is important for everyone to learn other coulters or learn more about your own. another reason why it is imprortant is because it gives you a chance to learn about people who changed the world for the better by creating and inventing knew things. This is why everyone around the world should learn and be a part of black History month.

Matthew Henson

Matthew Henson, the first person to step foot on the North Pole. In Maryland, August, 8, 1866 he was born. At the age of 13 he started work on a ship sailing around the world. in 1909 he reached the North pole with the 4 inuits. but did not receive full credit for this.

Robert Smalls

Robert Smalls was born in 1839 in South Carolina and was born into slavery. later in life he started work in a harbor and for learning it so well became caption of the plantation ship where he created his great escape. one night as everyone left the ship he gathered all the slaves and their family's and brought them to freedom. and when he came back he bought the house where he worked and spent the rest of his life fighting for what was right.

Claudette Colvin

On September 5th 1939 Claudette Colvin was born in Alabama. at a young age she saw people separated because of the color of their skin, but luckly she gained a very good education at her school. she learned about famous people that had the same color of skin. at the age of 15 she was with a group of friends and was told to get up and give her seat to the white women but she said no, later she would be arrested for this. 9 months later Rosa parks did the same thing but was known all around the world. all because Claudette had a child out of wedlock.

Madam C.J. Walker

Madam C.J Walkers was born 1867 in saint Louis Missouri. her family was very poor, she worked as a washer who cleaned others cloths during this she starting losing her hair when she came up with an her idea she created a lotion that " grew hair" her idea became so famous that everyone wanted to try her product. going door to door as her business grew she gained wealth. later in life she spent her earning people in need.

Malcom X

Malcom X at a very young age was sent to prison where he met a group of people that had the same beliefs as him after being released he faught for black peoples rights. He even got to meet martin Luther king but one things was different about the two, X was will to do anything at any means, tragically Malcom was killed in mecca but his story lives on through his books about rights for every one

George Washington Carver

George Washington Carver was born into slavery when he was just a week old he was kidnapped but was saved he grew up learning but was a struggle because of the color of his skin. He became famous with his work with peanuts and soil. sadly later in life he died when he fell down steps but Carver will always be remembered for his work today

Emmett Till

Emmett Till was kidnapped and killed. This event along with others started the Civil Rights Movement. Born in 1941 in Chicago, Till and his family were going to go to Mississippi to visit their grandpop. Emmett Till and his cousin went to a store to buy candy, and when they walked out, he whistled at the woman behind the counter. She was the owner's wife. A couple days later, the husband and another man kidnapped Till and tortured him. One of his ears was ripped off and an eye was dislodged from its socket. He was thrown into a river and was being weighed down by a chair that was tied to his neck by barbed wire. The mother demanded an open casket funeral so the world could see what the two men did to her son. The two men were tried and found not guilty, but they told the truth and their story years later when they were paid by an organization. They were safe and could not be tried again since double jeopardy exists in America.

Katherine Johnson

Katherine Johnson was born on August 26, 1918 in West Virginia and she was well known for working at NASA she first received her job when NASA decided to let women work in research, soon she received the Silver snoppy award for her hard work, she was sooo trusted that astronauts wanted her to double check others work before going into space. sadly Katherine died at the age of 101! But will live on for her hard work.

Marcus Garvey

Marcus Garvey became one of the most well known African influencer to speak out for his rights Garvey decided he needed to make an organisation to support others African that were being mistreated so he created UNIA, later he had an idea to bring Africans back to Africa so they can be treated fairly back his plan did not work and was arrested for shady dealings with his company but was brought back to his home country, Jamaca where he was known as a hero
