For a book to be called a good book, for me at least, needs to keep me hooked and leave me on cliffhangers or something i can real relate to.

i really enjoyed this one book called "Gym Candy". it was about this football player DeShawn who was varsity as a freshman. He was a back-up until the starter got hurt. Fast forward to the state final and Deshawn was still the started. the last play of the game he was stopped at the 5 yard line because he just wasn't strong enough. In the off season he started lifting and taking protein powder to help him. He kept doing the protein drinks and later moved on to steroids so that he can be come the best. Next season he was not allowed to play because he failed the drug test.

The setting of this book is in Akron, Ohio which is LeBron James' hometown. it is around 2000-2003 when LeBron was still in high school tearing up the league.

my favorite character is LeBron James he is my favorite because he is the only one that does something and this whole book is around him. I also like him because he never gives up. In this book i don't have a least favorite character.

Enjoyable Conflicts

Conflicts i enjoy are physical conflicts. When someone is stopping another person reach their goal and they fight and battle the whole book. In my book there is no real conflicts at all. Besides the internal conflict on how LeBron wanted to keep getting better. Obviously Lebron kept getting better and was drafted right out of high school. He never gave up or settle with going to college for a year because he wasn't good enough to go pro.

My Conflicts

My life has been pretty simple I've never had a big conflict in my life. The only one i can remember is when i got into a fight...when i was 5. I got into that fight because this kid took the ball i was playing with and said "i looked stupid" and ran away. About 5 minutes later i told my dad but my dad didn't listen because he was talking to someone else. So i thought about all the superhero shows, my brothers and i watched, and how easily they won fights. Then the idea of fighting that kid popped into my mind and how easy it would be. I walked up to the kid and said something like "hey can I have my ball back poop head" and that's when the fight started. Being in the fight I thought we looked pretty sick like the superheros look like; but, we were only five so I'm sure we looked pretty dumb. about a minute has gone by and i see my dad running towards me. My dad breaks up the fight easily and i get the ball back. All my brothers thought i was so cool because i got into a fight... my mom wasn't so happy. that's the only conflict in my life i can think of.

I rate my book a solid 7. I rate it a 7 because it is a good book and all but i feel like it is just missing stuff. This book is sports non-fiction book. Before i read this book I already had an idea on how it was going to end with LeBron being drafted to the NBA, and i was right. This book does meet my standers i felt like i could relate and grow off of this book.
