The draining oil stands for blood, as blood has the same type of thickness when leaking, slow and a darker color. This also could be the blood coming from the head in the beginning of his dream.
The robots voices is for those who hear unintentional voices that make threats or make the person go crazy.
The power outage feels as if the brain shuts down, and it gives the "its over" moment.

Hallucinations that were seen by Simon include Theta, the area Simon is while in the schizophrenic state, and the fast and lethal monsters. Seeing Ashley in their room was actually reality, but he returns to his own world after an explosion.
Noises that Simon unintentionally hears comes from the hallucinations, the roars and screams made by the monsters. While Simon goes through the maze, the dark empty halls empties his vision while he reaches dead ends getting stuck. This represents Simon unable to move forward in his real self and his schizophrenic world.
The Elevator
The elevator tells a lot when he was unable to open it. He had to reboot it and fortunately fixes it. While Simon goes deeper down, it stops suddenly.
