You know… there’s actually a term for that. You might be a NEET…“nini.”

-he: a neet? What's that?

-she: Young people Not in Education Employment or Training is an acronym

-he: Oh… I’ve heard that before. But isn’t that from the UK? We live in Colombia…

She: That's true, but the youth unemployment problem exists everywhere and is a global problem.I used to think it was only a problem in other countries, but now I see it also affects Colombia.

Michael: Wow… I didn’t realize I was part of that group…Maybe I’m the problem. Maybe I’m not good enough.I used to feel confident about my future, but now I feel lost.

Nicol: Hey, don’t say that. It’s not always your fault. There are bigger problems behind this.

Michael: Like what?

Nicol: For example, the lack of job opportunities, the economic situation, and the fact that many companies want experience but don’t want to train young people.

Michael: Exactly! It makes no sense. They ask for experience for entry-level jobs…Also, the education system doesn’t always prepare students for real jobs.

Nicol: Yeah,we learn a lot of theory, but not enough practical skills. That's very, very boring.

Michael: Right,It makes you want to sleep

Nicol:Yes, it happens to me too, but getting back to the topic not everyone follows the same path or learns at the same speed.

Michael: yeah It feels like the system is designed to make us fail.

Nicol: I wouldn’t say that… but it definitely needs improvement.

Michael: Life is so unfair..

She: Right, that's correct, and it will still be unfair!

He: …Do you think this will get better? I don't know about you, but I want it to get better, and fast.

She:Well, I dunno,I hope so, but I don't think it will happen quickly. Everyone should agree, but not everyone cares about young people.

He:Now that you mention it, you're right.

She: anyways that's how the cookie crumbles

He: What?

She: I mean that's life

He:...yeah that's life I have to go now, take care

She: bye bye and.. good luck Michael

He: thanks nicol

She: Don't thank me, friend, I still can't help you.

Today we are going to talk about a social problem called ageism.

Jhonny:

Ageism is discrimination based on a person’s age. People have judged others only because of how old they are.

Joel:

Yes, and this problem has affected both young people and older adults for many years.

Jhonny:

For example, many young people have felt ignored in school or at work.

Joel:

Teachers or bosses sometimes said things like, “You are too young to understand.”

Jhonny:

In the same way, older people have experienced discrimination too.

Joel:

Some companies have rejected older workers because they thought they were not capable.

Jhonny:

This situation has caused serious consequences.

Cyberbullying

Participants: Samuel & Dominic

Topic: Cyberbullying

Part 1: Introduction & Discussion

Samuel: Hello everyone! Welcome to our podcast, "Digital Reality." I am Samuel.

Dominic: And I am Dominic. Today, we are diving into a very serious social problem: Cyberbullying.

Samuel: This is something that has affected thousands of students lately. Dominic, I have noticed that the internet is getting more toxic every day.

Dominic: I agree, Samuel. Life used to be much simpler. My older brothers told me that in the past, people did not have to worry about what others posted on the internet while they were sleeping.

Samuel: Exactly! Before social media, home used to be a safe place. But technology has changed everything. They have created a world where it is hard to escape.

Dominic: People used to think that words online weren't real, but they caused a lot of damage last year.

Part 2: The Interview

Dominic: Samuel, I remember you mentioned something about a friend who had a hard time on Instagram recently. What happened?

Samuel: Yes, it was a very difficult situation. My friend shared a photo, and suddenly, a group of people started leaving mean comments. He used to be very confident, but after that, he stopped posting.

Dominic: That’s terrible. Have you ever talked to him about how he felt?

Samuel: Yes, I have already talked to him. At first, he did not want to say anything because he was embarrassed. But we talked to a teacher, and they helped him.

Dominic: I’m glad he found help. Many people have suffered in silence because they used to believe that nobody would understand them.

Part 3: Teaching New Expressions

Samuel: Before we go, let's teach some new expressions. Dominic?

Dominic: Sure! "To be embarrassed" means to feel shame. For example: "I was embarrassed to speak in public."

Samuel: And "To speak up" means to find the courage to say something. We used to stay quiet, but now it's better to speak up.

Dominic: Finally, "To reach someone" means to contact them. Bullies have reached victims through many apps recently.

Part 4: Conclusion

Samuel: Well, we have explored a lot today. Remember: be kind online.

Dominic: We have enjoyed this conversation. Thank you for listening!

Samuel: See you next time

Camila:

Welcome to this space where we talk about what really matters. Today we want to dedicate a few minutes to a topic

that used to be almost taboo: youth mental health.

Sofia:

Exactly. In the past, people didn’t talk about this openly, but in recent years we have seen big changes. Young people

have started to recognize that saying “I need help” is an act of courage.

Camila:

What’s interesting is that it used to be almost forbidden to talk about mental health. Many young people felt alone with

their emotions. Now, even though it can still be hard, it has become more normal to say things like: “I’m going through a

tough time” or “I need support.”

Sofia:

And that’s a huge step forward. Before, we didn’t have that freedom, but in recent years we have seen that recognizing

mental health as part of everyday life is powerful. Young people have understood that asking for help is not weakness—

it’s bravery.

Camila:

Social media used to be seen only as a source of constant comparison, but now it has also become a place where many

share their experiences, post mental health memes, or spread encouraging phrases like “You’re not alone” or “Your

story matters.”

Sofia:

And schools and universities, which in the past rarely offered these spaces, have started to create workshops, talks, and

even peer support groups. That has made the conversation less heavy and much more open.

Camila:

I think the most important reminder is that caring for your mind is just as essential as caring for your body. Before,

people didn’t say this much, but now we have learned that sleeping well, talking to someone you trust, and doing

activities you enjoy really add up.

Sofia:

And listening is key too. Sometimes a friend doesn’t need solutions, just someone to hear them without judgment. A few

years ago, we didn’t talk about this much, but now we have understood that empathy can make a huge difference.

Camila:

So if you’re young and going through a hard time, remember: asking for help is an act of bravery. And if you know

someone who needs it, be there for them.

Sofia:

Thanks for joining us. See you in the next episode, where we’ll keep exploring topics that connect us and help us grow

together.

1. INTRODUCTION

(Music fades in: a steady, upbeat but thoughtful beat. The volume drops as the hosts begin to speak)

Emma: Hi everyone! Welcome back to another episode of [Podcast Name]. I’m Emma, and today we’re tackling a topic that, unfortunately, is still very much present in our schools and online: bullying.

Diego: Hey, Emma. That’s right. I’m Diego, and today we don’t just want to define what bullying is; we want to understand why it happens and, most importantly, how we can be part of the solution instead of just being bystanders.

Emma: Because sometimes people brush it off as “just being a kid,” but the marks it leaves are no joke. Let’s get into it.

2. MAPPING THE PROBLEM

Diego: To start things off, Emma, there’s a key distinction we need to make: not every fight is bullying. Bullying is defined by being systematic and repetitive. It’s a constant intent to hurt someone who, for one reason or another, is in a vulnerable position.

Emma: Exactly. And nowadays, the school gates are no longer the limit. It used to be that you’d go home and you were safe. Now, with cyberbullying, harassment can follow you 24/7 right into your bedroom through your phone screen.

Diego: That’s the most dangerous part. The digital reach makes the humiliation massive. What used to stay in a hallway can now be seen by everyone in a WhatsApp group or a social media story.

3. THE ROLES WE PLAY

Emma: We always focus on the one doing the bullying and the one being targeted, but there’s a third group that is absolutely vital: the bystanders. Diego, what role do they actually play?

Diego: They are either the engine or the brakes of bullying. If the group laughs or just stays silent, the bully feels like they have everyone’s support. But if someone says “stop” or simply refuses to play along, the bully’s power disappears almost instantly.

Emma: I know it’s scary to speak up because you don’t want to be the next target, but there is strength in numbers. If we all decide that respect is the bare minimum, bullying loses its space to grow.

4. TOOLS AND SOLUTIONS

Diego: If anyone listening right now feels like they are going through this, the most important message is: it is not your fault. Nothing justifies being mistreated.

Emma: The first step is to break the silence. Tell someone you trust: a teacher, your parents, or a real friend. Speaking up isn’t being a “snitch”; it’s standing up for your right to be at peace.

Diego: And for those on the other side—adults or friends—listen. Sometimes, a person just needs to be validated and told, “I believe you, and we’re going to solve this together.”

5. CLOSING

Emma: We’re running out of time for today, but we want to leave you with this: empathy is a muscle you have to train. A small gesture of kindness toward someone who seems to be having a hard time can truly change a life.

Diego: Thanks for joining us. If you think this episode could help someone, please share it. Let’s make respect the thing that goes viral.

Emmanuel Rivera y Diego Tobaria

Podcast Title: “Talking about the world Current Pollution

Person 1: Hello everyone, welcome to our podcast. Today we are going to discuss current pollution and how it affects our world.

Person 2: Hi! Pollution is one of the biggest problems today. Many years ago, people did not worry so much about pollution, but now it is a global problem.

Person 1: That’s true. In the past, cities were cleaner because there were fewer cars and factories. People used to walk more and used to produce less waste.

Person 2: Yes, but in recent years, pollution has increased a lot. Scientists have warned us about the dangers of pollution and climate change.

Discussion Section

Person 1: Let’s discuss air pollution first. Cars and factories released harmful gases in the past, and they still do today.

Person 2: I agree. Many people have noticed that the air quality has become worse in big cities.

Person 1: Water pollution is also serious. In the past, people threw trash into rivers, and sadly, some people still do it today.

Person 2: Yes, but some communities have started recycling programs, and that has helped reduce waste.

Interview Section

Person 1: Now, let’s do a short interview.
