I like this book because it has a lot of meaning and it really show how life of being in a abusive and controlling relationship can be like. It also shows that if you are in a relationship like that to get out and get some help. This book really shows how the character really feels and describes every scene so nicely.

Laughter

My laughter can be different considering how hard I am laughing like my laughter can be really obnoxious and loud or it can be really quiet but you would see me hitting something or just on the floor or it can be quiet and you would hear a wheeze like a tea pot or a creaky door opening.

I feel like this song relate to this book since this is a coming of age book it really shows what kids go through when growing up. this song is a really sad song and I feel like these lyrics relate to the book " Well, good things don't last and life moves so fast. I'd never ask who was better 'cause she couldn't be More different than me Happy and free in leather" I feel like this part of the song can be seen as before she got to mango street or her when she first moved there to when she has already lived there for a while. in both the song and the book they can give a really sad theme and almost like they are both stuck in a situation.

Esperanza is a very interesting character and she is someone that I can really relate to but her family moved around a lot and they are a big family which made it hard. She would explain how different everything was for them, but she also shows how she cope with getting everything. but later on in the chapters it shows everyone that she lives with and the things they have taught her. She also shows the struggles and the adventures she goes on and how they turn out.

My favorite chapter "Chanclas"

I really like the chanclas paragraph because it shows how the main character esperanza is insecure about her feet which everyone has but in this paragraph she really explain the feeling when you are insecure like how she says "My feet scuffed and round, and heels all crooked that look dumb with this dress, so I just sit." This really show how insecure she is with her feet in this moment.

Monday Oct 7th, pages 49-57 "The First Job"

This chapter is about esperanza getting her first job and in this chapter she starts off by saying that she was nervous but she was determine to earn money to support her family, I really relate to this part cause I also work a part-time job to help support my family. Later in the chapter Esperanza explain that she had met an "older oriental man" and that she had befriended the man so they can go on breaks together which made her a little more comfortable at work til... the old man asked her if she knew what day it was which ended up being his birthday and he asked her for a kiss and she didn't take any offend by it and proceeds to kiss him on the cheek but the old man grabs her face and kisses her on the mouth, now this I can't really say this has happened to me but I have been in many uncomfortable situations not with coworkers tho only with the costumers but I would never want to be put in a situation like this with my coworkers ever.

Tue 10/8: 58-71 "Elenita, Cards, Palm, Water"

I like this chapter because Esperanza talks about this lady who is kinda like a medium she uses tarot cards and does Palm readings and Esperanza just basically explains what Elenita does to her like the " Past, Present, Future." which is pretty self explanatory. she shuffles these tarot cards which they all have different meaning to them and your spirit guides will pull out the cards for you so for past they will decribe your past traumas, for present it will explain what you are going through in that time, lastly for future the spirit guide will give you ideas for what you are about to come across and for what good or evil could be on their way.
