My topic is pollution, and the area I chose is Coney Island Creek.

Coney Island Creek is known for its high levels of pollution, with toxic chemicals still present in the water. These pollutants have caused serious health and environmental issues over time. After Hurricane Sandy, the creek flooded nearby homes, spreading chemicals and mold that impacted people's health. To this day, the area has a lot of pollutants. Some cleaning organizations have started, but that area isn't clean yet.If we spread awareness more in the community we can make a change.

The topic I have chosen is the Greenhouse gas emissions problem especially in my borough Brooklyn. In Brooklyn, New York, buildings, transportation, and energy consumption are the primary sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Fossil fuels are frequently used to heat older buildings, which significantly increases carbon emissions. Although initiatives like extending bike lanes and public transportation help lessen it, delivery trucks and automobile traffic also contribute to the issue. In an effort to reach emission-free status by 2050, the city has implemented measures like the NYC Climate Mobilization Act to reduce emissions, particularly in major buildings. Through local renewable energy projects and environmentally friendly infrastructure, Brooklyn is important in achieving these objectives.
