I rarely process honoraria, but when I do, it is usually for someone lending their equine expertise to a 4-H Horse event. The honorarium is a small token of thanks, and does not come close to matching the market value of the expertise provided.

Our college has infrequent honoraria requests and I seem to have to re-learn the process each time. And for some reason, the honoraria requests that I have been involved in have some level of complexity that does not make it straight forward.

I have only had to process one honorarium so far. In my experience, the overall process can take a long time so its best to get as much information as early as possible from the recipient to mitigate any delays.

I recently had to do my first Honoraria payments. I had one that was over $500 and the others were for smaller amounts. It was a learning process because I hadn't had any training. Overall the process isn't hard when you have everything needed upfront.

In my time here, the Dean's office has not had a reason to process an honorarium, but the departments use them to pay guest speakers. Our advancement department may also use them sometimes.

I have had to process payments for independent contractors; each year our 4-H livestock club participates in a 4-H livestock show, and we pay guest judges for their participation in judging the show. I wasn't sure how to process the payment the first time, but with help from veteran AFA's I now have no problem ensuring I have all the correct forms and information.
