This paragraph is important because it shows the improvement and process of NGN. The commitment and time that Conor put into this organization really paid off because he was able to see the joy of parents after finding out their child was safe. Although there was complications, Conor never gave up, this is one thing that I really respect him for.

"Farid and I became more efficient at finding families in remote area. We knew how to put together search teams and assemble the supplies we would need, and we knew how to ask the right questions. Actually reuniting the children with their families, though, turned out to be a much more complicated beast. Every parent was overjoyed to find their son or daughter again..."

The importance of this paragraph was the determination Conor had of keeping his promise of finding the parents, even though his knee was in pain. He knew the consequences of continuing the trek, yet all he could think about was keep on going. Something I admire about Conor is his dedication for something he loves, which were the children. The fact that he sprained his knee, knowing that there were no medical help nearby, and still risking his life to pursue a goal proves that he is brave.

"I couldn't believe it. Half way into a three-week journey on foot with men who speed over these trails as if on rollerblades, and I was hobbling and wincing in pain. It wasn't the pain that bothered me, though I was pretty unhappy about it; it was the knowledge that there was no medical attention for miles. If I continues to hike at that pace, I could seriously damage my knee and would have to be carried out. That really, really could not happen." (page 170-171, Part IV)

This passage is important because it proved to Conor that there were also other children going through the same problem as the seven children including the children at Little Princes. The shock and realization of the problems in Nepal set Conor's determination to help out even more. This specific scene is what influence Conor to set a goal of helping traffic children find their homes and families.

"We do not have a home, either, Conor sir, not one with room. Nobody has homes for these children," he said. I could see him clearly in the darkness now. He was staring at me, as if waiting for something to dawn on me. "I know this is difficult. This is not like your country. We do not have solutions as you do." I said nothing. I just stared at the children. "So we are going to leave them here? With this woman? With so little food, living in this hole?" "But this is Nepal Conor sir. There are thousands of children like this. But now we must continue to search for your seven children. We cannot give them up, no?" (pg 119, Part III)

The significance of this passage was the fact that Conor was able to risk his comfortable home to a place of poverty just for the children. In addition, Conor felt like the eighteen children were like his family. This meant that the children was and still is an important part of Conor's life. I can connect to this because I, too, feel as if some of my friends are like a family to me and I would risk myself for them to be happy..

I sat down in my old bed, on the same thin straw mattress, my sleeping bag rolled up under the bed, right where I had left it. Even the weather was the same. I knew exactly what would happen when I walked out the door. I knew these eighteen children like I knew my own bothers. I relaxed. Godawari was home." (page 64, Part II)

He made a promise to the children and he really was going to keep it instead of letting them down. It also proved that Conor was serious about helping the children, because of this promise, the children were able to find their parents.

"I left Little Princes with a traditional Nepali leaving ceremony. Farid had come back from the hospital for a few hours to see me off with the other volunteers. The children, one by one, placed a red tikka on my forehead, gave me flowers, and bade me a safe journey. As each of the eighteen children approached, each asked if it was true that I was coming back next year. I confirmed it again and again... I meant it. I would be back for them."
