Mr. Linden's library

Mr. Guy went to the library with his wife, Mrs. Girl. Ever since they were young the two always went every Sunday. The library was run by Mr. Linden. Mr. Linden was a short and mysterious person, but he was also really nice to everyone. Mr. Guy walked past him but before he could get far, he heard a voice.

“Good evening Mr. Guy. What are you looking for today?” Mr. Guy jumped a little when he heard the voice but then turned around to talk to Mr. Linden.

“Just looking for now. Any suggestions?” Mr. Guy asked while browsing the books on the shelves. Mr. Linden left and soon came back with an old-looking book. Its cover was all scratched up and he could barely read the title.

“This was donated to us recently. We were told it was a horror story. Judging from the books you previously have taken out; I think you would enjoy this. We had this given to us not long ago, so we don’t know what it is about. Please tell us how your experience goes with it. That is if you want to take it out,”

“I’d be happy to,” Mr. Guy replied. Mr. Guy walked with Mr. Linden to the check out and signed the book out. After he did that, he went to find his wife at the entrance. They left Mr. Linden’s Library and drove home.

“Mr. Linden is so nice,” Mrs. Girl said, wanting to start a conversation

“He is very nice. He helped me find a book today. This one,” Mr. Guy showed her the book.

“That looks rather interesting,” Mrs. Girl hesitantly replied.

“He said they just got the book today and I could see what it’s about,”

“Do you mind if I try reading it?” Mrs. Girl asked curiously.

“I have to work on a project later, so I don’t see why not,” The two continued to talk about their day until they got home while the sun was setting. They walked inside to do what they needed to do. Mr. Guy left to go work on his project in the garage and Mrs. Girl went to the bedroom to go read the book. Mrs. Girl was filled with excitement, but Mr. Guy was not. He just wanted to sleep in his bed and forget about everything. He just needed to get this project done before tomorrow. The project would probably take all night, so he began to work.

Mrs. Girl was starting to get a little worried for Mr. Guy. He was clearly over worked, since this was his third project in two days, and she just wanted to see him again. At least they could still go to the library together. Mrs. Girl continued to read the book about the girl who shared the same name as her, Mary, and the vine monster that was trying to hunt her down.

“This is disturbing,” Mrs. Girl said out loud while reading the middle of the book. Mrs. Girl turned the page a final time before something started coming out of the book. It wasn’t a hand or a portal, but vines just growing from the middle of the book. Mrs. Girl screamed as loud as she could to try and get the attention of Mr. Guy, hoping that it wasn’t too late for her.

Mr. Guy was starting to get annoyed by Mrs. Girl’s screams. He knew a book couldn’t be that scary. even if it was, you wouldn’t scream. Mr. Guy left to confront Mrs. Girl but brought a hammer just in case her screams weren’t from the book. Just before he entered the room, he shouted,

“what’s the problem!” and then he saw it. The vines growing from the book in a way that made it look like a monster. It probably was a monster. He didn’t think long about that because he had to help his wife, who was still slowly being dragged by the vines of the monster that looked like long ropes pulling her closer to its tall, large head that was mostly just a mouth. Without thinking, Mr. Guy swung his hammer into the long neck of the monster, making it let go of Mrs. Girl. This made the monster switch targets and pin Mr. Guy the floor. Mr. Guy lost his hammer, the force of the monster making him lose it. Mr. Guy thought that it was over for him when this happened. At least he knew Mrs. Girl would be safe. He had given up and knew he was already dead, but Mrs. Girl threw the hammer at the monster at the last second. It hit the monster in the neck, and it fell to the floor. The two stood there speechless until the monster was dragged back into the book. Mr. Guy closed the book and ran to the garage with it and used his lighter and some paper to burn the book to ashes. The fire went on for a few seconds and then a few minutes until he decided to use a bucket of water to put the fire out. The book was turned into ashes, and it was now unrecognizable. Mr. Guy and Mrs. Girl decided that they have had enough of that day, so they went to sleep, hoping that they would never see that beast ever again.

AI take over

Jimmy and Timmy were hiding in their house playing cards until they heard a crash from somewhere in the house. Knowing what was going on outside, they ran through the yellow corridor past all the decorations and all the paintings on the walls. The corridor felt like it went on forever as they ran through its narrow halls. They finally got to the end of the never-ending hall and left the house as the robot rounded the corner at the end of the hall. Jimmy and Timmy were breathing heavily as they got out, wanting a break from the whole situation. They knew they weren’t done yet though. They still had to find somewhere to go for the night, and the house they were just in was definitely not safe, so they began their dangerous journey to find a place to sleep.

As they walked through the city, they had to hide in a lot of bushes to hide from the robots. The robots were small, but they were hard to see because of their light grey colour that blends into the cracked road. Their small screens and cameras made them super vigilant and hard to hide from. At least Jimmy and Timmy knew that if they hid behind something, the robots would stop looking for them. It was hard to find places to hide because of the fires the robots caused. The robots were fireproof and fast, so they didn’t have to worry about it but everyone else was made of not very fire-resistant material. There was a strange pattern that Jimmy noticed. All the robots were going to the same location. Jimmy saw an opportunity to run to the nearest building. There were lots of buildings in the city but half of them were destroyed and burned to the ground, making it hard to find a safe place to sleep. Jimmy found a place anyway and got Timmy to follow. They ran for the entrance and made it inside. They quickly looked around and found some boards and a hammer which would be great for boarding up the door. They swiftly did their job and then used their jackets as blankets and went to sleep, hoping that they would awake in the same place.

Aiden's super cool nickname

If I were to give myself a nickname it would probably be Sleepyhead. The reason I would give myself this nickname is because I am always really tired no matter what. It doesn’t matter if I get five hours or thirteen hours of sleep. I had a bad sleep schedule before, but I solved that issue. I am still tired almost every day, so tired that I can easily fall asleep almost anywhere. My sleeping habits have gotten better over time but i still feel exhausted and sleep almost right after I get home from school. I try to play with my friends to keep me awake for a little bit before I go to sleep. I try to get my mom to check on me sometimes, but she does roller derby on Mondays and Wednesdays. My allergies also might affect why I'm tired all the time. I’m allergic to pollen so when it rains it stirs up all the pollen that’s on the ground and makes me very sick. When I’m sick, I get really tired.

Another reason why I would give myself the nickname Sleepyhead is that I enjoy sleeping. When I sleep, I dream like a normal person and when I dream, I can get to be in some cool scenarios that I’ll forget later but would be fun to play. I can also do whatever I want in my dreams. I will never get tired too, because I already am sleeping, and I can’t get tired when I’m sleeping. Sometimes I get nightmares, but I find them fun. It’s like you're in a horror movie but scarier than if you were to watch the same scene on the television. I also like lucid dreams. Lucid dreams are dreams when you know it’s a dream but you’re still sleeping. I like them because I can get whatever I want and do whatever I want without my brain choosing a random scenario. The only bad part about lucid dreams is waking up and knowing that you will probably never get what you had in that dream. At least I have my friends in real life.

My final reason for why I would give myself the nickname Sleepyhead is because it sounds funny. It made me smile a little when I thought of it, and it made my day just that much better. Sometimes funny stuff to me is what makes my day good. School is ok but it’s too loud and it gets very annoying sometimes. When that happens, I just ignore it and joke with my friends and I feel a little better. When I go home, I don’t feel as drained, and I can have fun playing games with my friends for a bit and then sleep.

My mom also has some nicknames for me that I don’t mind. One of them is busterg. I got this nickname when I was in daycare. The people who would work there gave me the nickname busterb because my mom’s last name was brown. They didn’t know that I didn’t have mom’s last name, but my dad’s, which was Guerard. My mom still liked the nickname, so she kept it with me but changed it to busterg to fit me more.

After reading my assignment of why I think that my super cool nickname would be sleepyhead, I hope you can see why I think it would be that.

If jealousy was a person

Out of all the people in the world, Jealousy is probably one of the strangest. They look normal and talk normal, but their behavior is very different compared to everyone else. They don’t set their own goals, but instead let others set them for them, not in the way you might think. Other people don’t tell him what to do, but they always seem to have something better than him. They always have something he wants. This will make him do whatever it takes to get what he wants no matter how long it takes or many people it may hurt. Jealousy only cares about himself and that he has everything that everyone else has. No one knows where he came from or why he acts like this, but no one is able to ask because he is always too busy trying to be on top of everything. Some people say he was bullied a lot as a kid because he didn’t have everything that everyone else had so he is now trying to get everything. Jealousy does do some nice thing occasionally, but only to help himself. He needs to be the best at everything because he can’t live without having everything that everyone else has which includes being the most helpful. He can’t stand not being included in everything. He needs to be the center of attention all the time because he can’t let anyone else be. That would mean someone would have something he didn’t. One thing that he is always complaining about is his height. He isn’t that tall and never was and that makes him jealous of others. He isn’t even close to tall, standing at four feet and seven inches, and always yelling at others from down below about how he needs what they have. People aren’t the nicest to him and that makes everything worse for him. Maybe he doesn’t need discipline, but a friend to talk to.

Reflecting

I do not know what is important about what I did, and I don’t fully understand what that means. I think what it wants me to say is that I improved my skills as a writer and will continue to improve. The thing I found most challenging was trying to hide my writing away from Rowan who was constantly looking at my work even after I told him to stop, which was annoying but wasn’t the end of the world. I became a better writer by practicing how to write and explain stories, give a good idea of what my worlds look like, and tell how characters act and behave in detail. It helped me overcome my fear of being judged on my work and to express myself a little more. I think I did really well. I’m still trying to get the radio advertisement recording done but other than that, all my work was either handed in on time or handed in early. I was happy with how most of my stories turned out and how it let me express myself a lot. It was a little difficult at first but eventually it got a lot easier to write and produce stories. The thing I could have done differently is Get the radio recording done on time but that won’t be a problem. I wouldn’t have done anything else different though. I was happy with how my stories came out and was happy with how fast they came out. I have discovered that I can be very creative and can do stuff I never thought I could do before this unit. It also raised my confidence a lot and made me realize I won’t be judged as much as I thought I would be. My favourite piece of writing was CW2 What if AI took over the world. I was happy with how it turned out and how it sounded. I worked really hard and wanted it to sound really well done and I think I did that. I liked how I made the AI look and act. That was how I felt about the creative writing unit and overall, I enjoyed it quite a bit.
