Answers: It adds a lot of tension, but do you want tension? 
Yeah it does and it makes the audience focus more on them. And the shadows that it created you can play around with that. 
Yes.... But I think it could be positioned better as it was covering his face a bit, maybe on the other side instead?
I wasn't as aware of the table being a table when the light wasn't on it. When the light was on it the table seemed much more important. 
The light worked because you couldn't really see the others so there was more focus on Arnold. 
Him being in light and the others in shadow was really effective.
