i have been on time to all of my lessons this week. This is no different to last term because i plan ahead and make sure i arrive early so i am never late.

1.1 Locate, access and use information to support own development.

I would like to be a cinematographer on the set of films and TV shows because I have a passion for filming and I have found that directing is a good place for me but I specialise in camera shots and angles so cinematography became a passion for me so when I began making short films I made sure I was in charge of cinematography because that is where I am strongest.

The skills I have at the moment include: Experience with photoshop, Indesign and illustrator from my first week of work experience in which I used all of these programs to create a record company. I can also formally talk to people in a business environment because I have been to many job interviews and I have been taught how to present myself by a successful business owner.

I have researched jobs by using job sites such as indeed and reed. These have been helpful because they tell you what you need to do to get this job and other people have reviewed the jobs so you can get a more informal opinion on the job so you know everything about the job before you apply for it so you can skip any jobs that don't suit you so you are not waisting time applying for jobs that you will turn down when you get more details.

Some job sites only gave you their opinion on the job so you only had a very vague description of the job meaning some of the jobs that sound perfect turned out to be unsuitable for me due to things like hours and what I will really be doing in the job.

To get to my job in cinematography I will either find an apprenticeship in the film industry and work my way up so I can get on set and then work as a cinematographer but I will need to be very lucky to get these places with my current qualifications so my alternative route would be to take film studies in university and get better qualifications so I can go straight into work in the film industry after my university course has finished.

I will need to make sure I can constantly learn more about the industry I am working in so I can progress and make people want to promote me so I can advance my way through the film industry. I will need to use the money I get from my job to get better equipment for filming so I cam make better short films outside of work so I have some work behind me when I begin working on set as a cinematographer.

I have previously worked in the graphic marketing industry so I could get used to using the programs they use such as photoshop and illustrator meaning I can enter the film industry by making film posters and adverts so I will then have contacts in the industry that may take me on to shadow them or work along side them.

I may go to university to study film studies because it would allow me to build up my knowledge of film and give me better qualifications so I can get a job in the film industry. If i do take this course I plan to take it at Gloucestershire University because they are very passionate about film and I believe they will be the best people to teach me more about film.

I am a very hard working individual, I am very good at talking to adults in a formal and mature environment as I have spent time volunteering at a local refrigeration company, I have also done a weeks worth of work experience at a graphic marketing company called “Juice Creative”. They taught me different things about using Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign to a professional standard by tasking me to design my own record company and create a logo, album cover and a business card. This work experience influenced me to use there skills in the film industry as I tested my skills by making posters for the short films I made at home. I am good at editing videos because I spent a lot of my time in school editing the films I made in film studies, I also took time out of my day to film any extra shots needed for the video or just to carry on editing because I enjoy it and I like the outcome, all of this has given me lots of experience with editing videos. I have spent a lot of time working in teams to create short films, these teams mostly consisted of friends and family but in school i made some short films with people that i didn't know but once we set the different tasks in our group we were very organised and we managed to get the film made with good quality and the whole team benefited from it because it was a more professional way of creating the short film.
