         <description><![CDATA[It was patented in 1769 by RICHARD ARKWRIGHT.  Its called like this because it was powered by a waterwheel, the water frame was the first fully automatic and that was continuously operating spinning machine. This produced greater and stronger thread, it was actually better than the spinning Jenny. The water frame could not be housed in homes of spinners because of its size and power source, it required a large building near a fast-running steam. ]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[It was made in 1764, created by JAMES HARGREAVES, he obtained the patent in 1770. James Hargreaves was a por spinner that lived in Lancashire, England. He made a new spinning machine that could draw thread from 8 spindles simultaneously instead of one (like in the traditional spinning Wheel). He had de idea after his daughter Jenny, knocked over the family´s spinning Wheel, the spindle continued to turn even as the machine lay on the floor, suggesting to Hargreaves that a single wheel could turn several spindles at once.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[A lot of patents have been given to sewing machines, most of them proved not to be successful. Walter Hunt was the first American who invented a lockstitch sewing machine in 1832, but he didn´t patent it because he thought the amount of unemployment he was gonna cause. In a lockstitch machine, the needle was pushed through the cloth and created a loop on the other side a shuttle on a track slipped the second thread through the loop.
But finally in 1845 Elias Howe created an efficient sewing machine and patented it (of course it was using the lockstitch method.)
The first machine to combine all the elements of the previous innovation into the modern sewing machine was the built by English inventor John Fisher in 1844. A little earlier than the very similar machines built by Isaac Merritt Singer in 1851 which used the foot. The invention of the sewing machine changed the way clothes were made and allowed for mass production of clothing.

         <description><![CDATA[Alfred Nobel was a student of a very famous French chemist named Théophile-Jules Pelouze. This man had first synthesized nitroglycerin in 1847 with one of his italian pupils in the University of Turin. Nitro-glycerine was the first practical explosive that was stronger than gunpowder (invented in the 9th century). Alfred Nobel, remained fascinated by the substance, he experimented several combinations of nitroglycerin and gunpowder having no succeed.  Later he came with a solution of how to safely detonate nitroglycerin by inventing a detonator, this allowed a controlled explosion set off from a distance. But the volatility still rendered it useless. Finally using rock and fossilized algae (he took it from Elbe River), Alfred Noblel managed to stabilize nitrogrycerin into a portable explosive. He obtained the patent in 1867. This made an improvement in mines (they could dug deeper and quicklier) ]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[In 1876 the American scientist Alexander Graham Bell patented the telephone. A device that transmitted sound by an electric current. Alexander´s device consisted of two sets of metallic reeds (membranes) and electromagnetic coils. The sound waves produced near one membrane caused it to vibrate at a certain number of frequencies, which induced currents in the electromagnetic coil that was connected to it, those currents flowed to the other coil, wich caused the other membrane to vibrate at the same frequency, re3producing the original sound. ]]></description>
