Domestic: Washing clothes, Washing foods, human waste (sewage water) may get into large bodies of water.


Agricultural: fertilizers/pestisides may get into large bodies of water from flooding (eutrophication.) it may also get to water by infiltration.

Industrial - Many to most companies will use water in some part of the process. The water often has been contaminated with things such as chemicals, animal parts [Rarely] or rich in organic matter.

Overall: Us, while some waste occurs naturally the majority of water pollution is caused by us and our actions at the root of it
