It was one of the first times in those 2 months that we felt normal or ok because we were amongst 2000 people who just got it. They could understand what we were feeling and thinking. We didn't need to explain ourselves. Since that first walk, our team, Randi's Rainbow has continued show up at the walk, some coming from all over the state, it’s a day we all look forward to. Showing up for other new teams who need us, like we needed others.

 

AFSP as a whole has brought a greater meaning to my life. It’s let me channel my own grieving, coping, and healing in ways I never knew I had the strength to do so. The walks are the big event that remind me of so many whys and give me so much hope. But it’s also the work of AFSP throughout the year that makes me so proud to be part of the organization.  It means so much to our team knowing that  the funds raised by all the walkers goes to research, advocacy, education, and loss and healing activities as ways for AFSP to carry out its mission to Save Lives and Bring Hope to Those Affected by Suicide.
