While working in my room, I decided to become a Special Education Teacher.  Currently I am one of the Special Education Teachers at Line Creek Elementary.  I am considered one of the Resource Special Education teacher’s within the building.  I currently have groups that range from 2nd grade to 5th grade. I work alongside another teacher and together we service our students with pull out services. The transition planning programs at the high school level, may include a process that looks similar to my model. There are three areas of focus for students with special education needs.  The process will look different for every student and may be more difficult for some.  Most programs are designed to ensure that students are provided with a specific skill set and services in order to make a smooth transition from school to adulthood. These areas include Employment, Independent Living and Community partnership. Moreover, I specifically chose this image because I still would include post-secondary education as an option for those students who would want to continue on their education path. Even though, I believe giving students with disabilities a specific skill set would ensure a higher percentage of students being employed and living independently. My expectations for this class are to further my knowledge of the different technologies offered to educators.  I am excited but yet a little intimidated because technology isn’t my favorite feature in the education world. It seems to never work when I need it to, especially during my lessons.

First, I was introduced to the SMARTBOARD about 10 years ago in my school I worked in. I took a class on it in order to utilize all of the features. I also am very familiar with AAC devices. I have had many students who use an Augmentative and Alternative Communication device to communicate with. I have one student who currently uses the device as his main source of communication every day from morning to night. At home, I use an IPHONE and a TV for our technology.
