They finally sell him to a nearby family, and their groom turns out to be one of Birtwick's former stable boys, Joe Green. Joe recognizes Beauty, and the family promises to never sell Beauty again guaranteeing him a happy life for the rest of his time.

I say this because the book is very upsetting and not fun to read but interesting and tells a good story. He is a beautiful strong horse who always strives to do his best. He learned good manners from his mother and lived by those principles for the rest of his life.
Merrylegs: Merrylegs is a pretty little pony who is always cheerful. Black Beauty meets him in Birtwick Park and they become friends quickly.
John Manly: John Manly is kind and a wise coachman of Squire Gordon’s estate. He takes a great liking to Beauty, who loves him very much in return.
Ginger: Ginger is a horse with attitude and has been through some rough times. She is with Black Beauty through two home and they make the best out of it.
Joe Green: Joe Green is a boy that took over John Manly's old help position and later on got Beauty and back.
