The Compromise of 1850 created the Fugitive Slave Act and slave trade was abolished. The compromise also entered California as a free slave state. It settled lots of slavery issues and it was easier for slaves to escape to freedom. </div>]]></description>

It went to the Supreme Court but they declared he wasn't even a civilian just a owned property of a civilian.
