In my region it is easy to take students to Open Day activities at local University faculties (ExpoUniversidad) and Vocational Studies schools (organized by regional educational authorities). We not have a specific international event with STEM experts for students: Aula 2017, as fair, should be somethig similar with a very interesting domestic programm for non compulsory studies in secondary level.
On the other hand, also it is very common that all the Universities have an Open Day during May-June. So you could accompany your students.

For compulsory studies I think the best option would be career talks, work shops or seminars, because children do not have clear options for the moment: a first face to face contact increase their motivations.

Mainly workshops, since I am working with elementary students. Many of them are even learning to read yet !! They love it when people come to school to visit them, to ask a lot of questions and satisfy their curiosity about the work they do and what it is about! The last visit was of a dentist, who explained to the children what caries was and taught them how to take care of the health of their teeth. Kids loved it!

My students react really great when we go and visit Uni`s at their Open Day events. they do ask a lot of questions and are engaged a lot. All of them are very interesting. I think if it is the first time talking about STEM careers I would start with a career exhibition. After that they will have a broader image of the options and that could be enriched with a fair and later with a talk with a professional or a variety of them (if it is difficult to reach the places, TICs are handy, like the virtual job fair and a virtual talk with some professional). And in my opinion the last one should be the internship, because after knowing about other careers they have more information to choose.

I consider that all activities are good for the students but which is more suited it depends on the age of the students. For my students, primary school, I think the best option is career talks or activities with professionals. However, when the students are older I consider science fair a great option because they can look for jobs related with their interest and find new opportunities.

Virtual Fairs could be useful in my situation, when and where "real" fairs are not available, and we are far from main cities. Moreover, as it is important that students are stimulated to take part in these, it is important that teachers are with them. So, even if real talks, with physical contact is necessary, virtual fairs can be useful for stimulating students in take part also in seminars and real fairs... For students of low age (11-14) maybe job shadowing is not so useful, as they cannot get all the aspects of the job.

Personally, I am inclined to Virtual Career fair as long as the "fair" is interactive. Think about the possibilities combining "Virtual Reality" + "interactive app" + "big data" into the virtual fair.

This is especially true if the app are written such that the student are given option to select what topic to further discussion. Kind of the like at the end of the NBA x-box game, when the manager will talk to the player to discuss about the career move and the player can select the answer.

I think that for my primary studens the mixture of 3 types would be the best option. Starting from exhibitions made by students and teacher we can introduce the subject. As I said earlier, STEM career fairs are the best option for my students, in this type of fairs they can ask questions, visualize and have a more real idea of the work to be done. However, my students develop professional internships in the course of their training, where they are in the company of their training areas, where they accompany for a minimum of a month and a half the real dynamics of the company. As mentioned here, if the counselor is not effective or understanding, sharing the most of his or her knowledge with the students can be frustrating.

I think the most accurate for my students would be the career fair. In this type it would be posible to involve the other activities: virtual job fairs, STEM workshops or seminars, and career exhibitions.

May students are very young. So I think that career talks is the best one whenever the speakers are able of motivating students and of adapting their speech to the children's level.

My students are young between 11/14 years old so I suppose they could be very impressed being involved in simulation in virtual job fairs, but wouldn't dislike career exhibitions and workshops or seminars with speakers able to inspire them adapting the speech to their age. Career talks in the classroom too would be interesting for them giving the opportunity to make questions, and listen to real experienced professionals and to think about their future and in a more concrete way to the path of the high school they are choosing to attend.

I think that for a few students it would be appropriate 'Job Shadowing'. I mean those who already have a clear preference for a specific scientific-technical subject or area and show a willingness to compromise and get involved with the project.

For the general class group, a 'STEM Career Fair' would be more appropriate as they are often entertaining and the students can interact more easily.

Nowadays I have very young middle school pupils. In my opinion career talks about several different professions would be the better introduction to the topic. They can begin to think of what possible profession they could fit.

For the students of the last years of middle school, I think that the career fair would be a better idea. They can have already thought about their future, they must begin to choose different academic ways indeed, so they can collect information of their different options.

My students are 7 graders and they surely dont know which career path they will go yet. But we goes to career fairs and they go into job shadowing in the nest year, which both are very useful for my students.

The most appealing one is to make students engage in collaborative team work for international and national science fairs. There are many international project fairs: Milset, Mostratec, Atast and INSPO. The process of participating is motivating and challanging.

In my opinion, a career fair is the most suitable event to organise because it aloows the students to meet in person with the professionals. I believe all events can bring different benefits to students. Ideally, shoclars ought to have the opportunity to participate in each type of event, at least one time in each one during their education.
But if I really need to choose one, I would decide on career talks/workshops/seminars
Because, if this has a good organization and management, it will be really suitable for students, allowing them to work face-to-face with professionals.

I reckon the Career exhibition is the most complete event's type. In my mind this kind of event it's not just listen a speech or partecipate on a debate, but it's come across the real contest of a job. Also you can share your point of view with other person with your same interest.

For our 14-16- year-old students I would consider Career talks / workshops / seminars the best. Students can work in a small group together with a guest, they more likely ask questions and direct face-to-face contact facilitates smoother communication.
Career fairs are also good. We have a regional fair every spring and students like it a lot. There is a wider choice of presenters so everybody can find something interesting for their own needs.

In my opinion the activity more suited to my students is career exhibitions. I think career exhibitions allow students to get in touch with different careers at the same time. Students can see the advantages and disadvantages of each career.
