This, often times, comes from the most intense point in a song. As stated by Evelyn Simonia “the most intense and emotional part of a phrase” is the song’s climax (Simonian). So, this brings us to a discussion. We all listen to music, and the climax tends to strike some sort of emotional tension in us, even if the climax is difficult to hear or find it is there whether it just be lyrically or instrumentally. While a climax often times can be a loud point in the song, this not always the case. Climaxes can be low in tone, slow in a beat, or any switch up in the song. The point of a climax is to keep the listener in
suspense. Another interesting factor of a climax is that it is not exclusive to one single point in a song. A single song can have multiple climaxes, whether that be to build up intensity for a more memorable chorus, to draw an emotion out to make you feel sad or lonely for a bridge, or to make for a suspenseful verse in a rap song. All of these different versions of climaxes can be found in many songs in many genres, and frankly, these climaxes are the main reason we love some of our favorite songs.
